The five aggregates are five different types of factors. Similar things gather together, and each type includes many elements, so they are called aggregates, which means gathering. It is said in the sutra: The five aggregates are like five thieves with swords drawn. These are the things that make all living beings suffer and unable to escape from the devil's zone. 1. Form aggregate: The definition of form is "changeable obstruction", which is obstructive and divisible. If there is matter, it means it has volume and occupies space; if there is matter, it is analyzable and destructible: this is what modern people call matter. But the ability arising from matter is also called form in Buddhism. Although the form of energy refers to the potential for good and evil actions, it is also very similar to the modern term "energy". 2. Feeling aggregate: The definition of feeling is "acceptance". When you touch the right state in your heart, you receive it in your heart and cause inner emotions, whether you feel pain or joy, which is called feeling; feeling is the inner emotional function. 3. Thinking aggregate: The definition of thinking is "image taking", which is the function of cognition. When understanding a state, the mind takes in the state of the state and uses it as a representation; then it adds ideas, associations, etc., to become a concept; based on this, various languages ????or words are established. 4. Action aggregate: The definition of action is "creation". When the situation arouses the heart, the heart takes action to deal with it, such as through mental deliberation and decision-making, it is initiated into physical and verbal actions. Action is originally thought and is the psychological function that drives the heart to do something - the function of will. Therefore, all activities centered on thinking and will, and all complex psychological functions, except for feelings and thoughts, are summed up in the sects. 5. Consciousness aggregate: The definition of consciousness is "differentiation" - understanding and identification. Our hearts are actually very complicated. Analyzing different psychological functions, such as feelings, thoughts, thoughts, etc., are called mental factors. And the function of inner apperception is called heart. This mind, from the perspective of clear recognition of the realm of knowledge, is called consciousness; therefore consciousness is the apperception that can recognize. Form is material, feelings, thoughts, and consciousness are spiritual; the sentient beings who are reincarnated in life and death are these five aggregates. What we think is me or mine is actually inseparable from the five aggregates, which are nothing more than the activities of the body and mind, material and spiritual.
The five aggregates of sentient beings are called the five clinging aggregates, because they are caused by the past clinging - troubles. Those who are born from troubles are inherently suffering. And now with these five clinging aggregates, suffering is getting worse due to the delusional thinking and attachment to clinging defilements. The Buddha said that there is a method of "four consciousnesses": Our "consciousness" (the consciousness corresponding to troubles) cannot be without a state. The state of consciousness is nothing more than four things: material color; emotional feeling; and knowledge. Thoughts; artificial thoughts. Awareness has always been "dwelling" on these material or spiritual objects, seeing them as desirable, obtainable, abiding, and graspable. Taking, getting, dwelling, and clinging all represent the "dying" of knowledge and objects, like glue and paint, which "can't" be "separated". Consciousness is affected by the state, and every change in the state will cause inner concern. It cannot control pain or happiness, and of course pain is unavoidable. You may not react when the leaves fall from the tree, because you don't see it as relevant to you. If a loved one, beloved power, wealth...especially your own survival, which you are most concerned about, is threatened or is on the verge of death, you will feel extremely painful. This is because you have infected him and regard him as yourself or your own. Getting knowledge is like being caught in a snare or thorn bush. In short, consciousness can live, and form, feeling, thought and action can live there; they are summed up into the five aggregates, which are the summation of all suffering.
