1. The terrain is uneven, and a gentleman carries his wealth with kindness.

Translation: It means that the momentum of the earth is generous and gentle, and a gentleman should increase his virtue and accommodate all things. A person must be able to bear what is within his own ability and weigh it himself.

2. A gentleman is virtuous by being knowledgeable and prefaced by his words and deeds.

Translation: The sun sets in the mountains. This is the hexagram of the big animal hexagram. From this, a gentleman realizes that he should learn more from the words and deeds of the sages of previous generations and use them to increase his own virtue. The so-called "being strong and benefiting oneself" in the ninth line of the Chu 9th chapter means that it will not cause disaster.

3. The inchworm bends to gain trust; the dragon and snake stings to save oneself.

Translation: The inchworm bends its body as much as possible in order to stretch forward; the dragon and snake hibernate in order to preserve their lives. People must also learn to give in and endure in order to fully demonstrate their abilities.

4. If you are poor, you will change, if you change, you will be general, and if you are general, you will be long-lasting.

Translation: It means that when things develop to the extreme, they must change, so that the development of things will not be blocked and things can continue to develop.

5. Heaven is moving vigorously, and a gentleman strives to constantly strive for self-improvement.

Translation: The universe is constantly moving, and people should follow the example of heaven and earth and keep moving forward forever.
