The appellation of "old man" is related to Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty. According to legend, during the Qianlong period, Ji Xiaolan compiled the Siku Quanshu in imperial academy. One day, Ji Xiaolan and his colleagues jokingly called the emperor an "old man", which happened to be heard by Emperor Qianlong. GanLong angrily asked Ji Xiaolan, "what do you mean by the word' old man'? If you can tell the truth, you can avoid death. " Ji Xiaolan unhurriedly replied, "The whole city calls you that. You think, longevity is called old age, standing tall and standing tall, and parents call children, which is why people call you' old man'. " Emperor Qianlong laughed heartily and pardoned Ji Xiaolan's death. From then on, the title of "old man" spread, not only the minister can be called jun, the wife can be called husband, and the young can be called dragon, without any disrespect.
