David Halberstam, a well-known American communication scholar and historian, an American war correspondent and one of the most respected journalists in America. His news reports and books have greatly influenced the times in which we live.

David Halberstam was born in new york City in 1934, graduated from Harvard University in 1955, and joined the Washington Branch of The New York Times in 196. He devoted himself to extensive coverage of the American civil rights movement, became the newspaper's special correspondent in Saigon, Vietnam in 1962, and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1964.
