Li Xian, Zhongzong of the Tang Dynasty, was born in Chang'an on November 5, Yi Chou Day, the first year of Xianqing (November 26, 656). He was the seventh son of Tang Gaozong Li Zhi and the third son of Wu Zetian (January 684). Reigned from January 23 to February 27, 684, from 705 to 707, and from 707 to 710). Zhongzong of the Tang Dynasty came to power twice. He reigned for seven years. On August 3, the third year of Shenlong, he was given the title Yingtian Shenlong Emperor. On June 2, the fourth year of Jinglong, he was poisoned on Renwu Day (July 3, 710). He died in Shenlong Hall at the age of 55. His temple name was Zhongzong, and his posthumous title was Xiaohe, Dasheng, and Zhaoxiao. In November of the first year of Jingyun, Jiyou buried Zhongzong in Dingling (now Longquan Mountain, 15 miles northwest of Fuping County, Shaanxi Province). . Empress Wu gave birth to four sons. Zhongzong was first named King of Zhou and later King of England. After the death of his two royal brothers, Li Xian was established as the crown prince.
Li Xian's life is a tragedy, and his experience is also very strange. Originally, she was not qualified to be the emperor, but fate seemed to favor him particularly. His brother, Prince Zhanghuai, was killed by his powerful mother, so Li Xian was made the crown prince. After the death of his father, Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty, Li Zhi, he became the crown prince. Emperor, unfortunately he also had a mother, Wu Zetian, who also wanted to be emperor, so he was often manipulated by Wu Zetian. Li Xian could not help but complain in his heart. Once, he even threatened to give up the throne to Queen Wei's father, which made Wu Zetian furious. He was deposed, demoted to King of Luling, and driven out of Chang'an.
Li Xian was placed under house arrest in Junzhou (now Danjiangkou City, Hubei Province) and Fangzhou (now Fangxian County, Hubei Province) for fourteen years. He was only accompanied by his concubine Wei Shi. The two depended on each other and experienced all the hardships in the world. difficult. Shortly after he was imprisoned, Li Dan abdicated, and his mother, Wu Zetian, ascended the throne of the emperor and became a generation of empress. Countless descendants of the Li and Tang clan were killed. Zhongzong was frightened after hearing this. During this period, a mutiny by Xu Jingye and others occurred in Yangzhou. Soon, the clan Lang? King Li Chong, Yue King Li Zhen and others also raised troops one after another. They all raised the banner of opposing Wu Zetian and Kuangfu King of Luling. This situation not only did not allow the deposed Emperor Zhongzong to see much hope, on the contrary, it intensified his inner fears.
In 698, Wu Zetian made Li Xian the crown prince, finally ending his life in captivity. In 705, Zhang Jianzhi and others launched the Shenlong coup. Wu Zetian had no choice but to surrender to Li Xian, who once again ascended the throne as emperor. Webster once again became the queen. After Wu Zetian became the queen, Webster's ambitions expanded and he wanted to eliminate Wu Zetian's story and become the queen.
In 705, Tang Zhongzong Li Xian took over the imperial power from the aging Wu Zetian, and his "old friend" Shangguan Wan'er immediately joined him. She was canonized as "Zhaorong". In fact, she was the emperor's little wife. According to the "Old Book of Tang", her status is second only to the queen and three concubines, and she is the second among the "nine concubines". The specific thing Wan'er is responsible for is the Cabinet Secretary-General. With political backing, she still felt unstable, so she bet on Lee Hsien Dae's wife, Queen Wei. The most wonderful way is to introduce a lover: soon, the thin-skinned and tender Wu Sansi followed Wan'er's lead and crawled into the Queen's warm and gorgeous bed. In this regard, Li Xian, a cowardly "tracheitis", always turns a blind eye and closes one eye. His principle is: as long as his wife is happy. Li Xian, Empress Wei, Wan'er, and Sansi often closed the door and fooled around in the emperor's bed? Related records can be found in new and old Tang books.
The ancients were considered adults at the age of thirteen or fourteen, but Li Xian, who is already twenty-seven years old and has been a father for many years, is still a naughty kid. Within a few days of taking office, he took away his father-in-law. Wei Xuanzhen was promoted from a petty official in Shu (presumably the same person who played Song Jiang's role before going to Liangshan) to the governor of Yuzhou (do you think of Liu Bei? The governor of Yuzhou was on the same level as Liu Bei, the shepherd of Yuzhou), and became a high official in the border areas. Not satisfied yet, Li Xianzhi wanted him to be the Prime Minister (Servant). When the Manchu Dynasty objected, Li Xianfa uttered the famous saying: "What if I give my country to Wei Xuanzhen? What does it mean to be a servant? "
Queen Wei's original name was Wei Lian'er. She was smart and smart since she was a child. However, she had dark skin since she was a child and was very ordinary in appearance. However, she had some ladylike temperament. People were pursuing her, but Wei Lian'er felt that she shouldn't just find someone to entrust her life to, so she disagreed with those people. Her father was a very young official, and Wei Lian'er thought that she was ugly and had a poor family background. If you are not prominent, you will find it extremely difficult to get ahead.
Li Xian, Emperor Zhongzong of the Tang Dynasty, came to power for the first time because Wu Zetian wanted to be the emperor and rule, but the ministers in the DPRK strongly opposed it in order to stabilize the mood of the ministers in the DPRK. Wu Zetian assisted her third son Li Xian in becoming emperor. After Li Xian became emperor, he was very majestic, but he was young and did not understand politics. Not long after he came to power, he wanted to reuse the relatives of his wife (Queen Wei). He wanted to promote his father-in-law to the prime minister. This approach angered Wu Zetian.
When Wu Zetian took real power, Wang Jishan had already become an old minister. He retired from his post due to physical inconvenience and was recuperating at home. At that time, the Khitan people were in rebellion in Shandong. Wu Zetian wanted Wang Jishan to quell the chaos. She knew that Wang Jishan was old and physically inconvenient. Wu Zetian also specifically ordered him to bring his wife and children with him to quell the chaos. However, in the subsequent consultations, Wu Zetian felt that Wang Jishan had his own unique insights in answering court issues, so he left Wang Jishan as a consultant by her side.
In May of the fourth year of Jinglong (710), Tang Zhongzong Li Xian died of illness (some say he died because Princess Anle poisoned the cake). In the same month, Zhongzong’s youngest son Wen Wang Chongmao was established as emperor ( Historically known as Emperor Shang of the Tang Dynasty), it was changed to "Tang Long" in the Yuan Dynasty, and was proclaimed by Empress Wei at the dynasty, hoping to reenact the story of Empress Wu. Empress Wei wanted to depose sixteen-year-old Li Chongmao and become the queen herself when the time was right. But what she didn't expect was that just one month later, Princess Taiping and Linzi King Li Longji launched the Tang Long Coup, killing Empress Wei, Princess Anle, and the entire clan of Wei and Wu with troops.
