Some things are innate, such as birth environment, looks and talents, which we cannot choose and change. However, knowledge and self-cultivation are acquired through hard work. No matter how beautiful the face is, with the passage of time, it is always invincible. Those who are well-educated, even if their appearance is not outstanding, make people feel very temperament. This is the so-called "self-satisfied with poetry and books".
The famous saying "self-glorification with poetic spirit in the belly" has been circulated for thousands of years, which is almost known to all women and children. It comes from a poem by Su Shi, a great writer. In fact, the last sentence is more classic, but few people know it. Su Shi is a very dazzling star in the history of ancient literature. If other aspects are not considered, he can almost be compared with the poet Li Bai, but his official career is full of hardships.
In the second year of Jiayou, Su Shi, who was only 2 years old, went to Beijing with his father Su Xun and his younger brother Su Zhe to take the exam. As a result, both brothers were promoted to the rank of scholar, but his father was not on the list. Su Shi has a wide range of friends. Among many friends, there is a young man named Dong Chuan. Although his family was poor, he didn't break the jar. He studied very hard, and Su Shi appreciated his enterprising spirit.
Due to the death of his mother, Su Shi went back to his hometown to observe filial piety for three years. Shortly after his return to Beijing, the court sent him to work in Fengxiang House. At that time, Dong Chuan was alone and went to Fengxiang with Su Shi. Dong Chuan, who was very poor in his own life, arrived in a strange place and couldn't find a job for a while. He had almost no money left, and sometimes he had to rely on his friends to help him get by.
Even so, Dong Chuan never gave up studying, even if he was hungry, he couldn't read without books, let alone add new clothes for himself, and he didn't care if he was covered with patches. Su Shi is very busy on weekdays, and only gets together with Dong Chuan in his spare time. Later, Dong Chuan left Fengxiang for Chang 'an, where he stayed indoors to prepare for the triennial examination, during which he occasionally wrote greetings to Su Shi.
On one occasion, Su Shi went back to the capital to report on his work, and happened to pass through Chang 'an. Anyway, he was not in a hurry, so Su Shi went to visit Dong Chuan, his good friend whom he had not seen for a long time. Seeing that Dong Chuan's residence is very shabby, it can even be said that his family is surrounded by four walls. Su Shi was deeply moved. Before leaving, he wrote a poem "Leaving with Dong Chuan", and the first two sentences were "I am wrapped up in my life, and I am full of poetry and books."
It means that Dong Chuan is wearing clothes made of coarse cloth, and he still studies hard under such difficult conditions, and he exudes unique talents. It is not Su Shi's false praise for him, but encouraging Dong Chuan to study hard, believing that his talent will not be let down. Later, Dong Chuan was admitted as a scholar, but it was a pity that JaeHee died young in two years, which was a pity.
