Lang Shining is good at painting portraits, birds and animals, landscapes and historical events, especially horses. Mainly based on European techniques, paying attention to the anatomical structure, light and shadow effect and three-dimensional sense of objects. During the Yongzheng period, Lang Shining also spread the European focus perspective painting to China, and assisted China scholar Xirao Nian to complete the book "Vision" describing this painting, becoming the first book in China to introduce this knowledge.

During the Qianlong period, he participated in the design and construction of the West Building of Yuanmingyuan. Haiyan's bronze head of the zodiac is also indispensable. To this end, Lang Shining once held the post of Chen Feng Yuan Qing (the third product).

Lang Shining painted many works for the emperor in the Qing court, including unsigned works. Lang Shining's works have a wide range of themes, including historical paintings showing major events at that time, portraits of many emperors and queens, animals and flowers and birds.

According to the archives of the Interior Department of Qing Dynasty, Lang Shining once taught European painting techniques, including oil painting techniques, to court painters in China, and introduced this European art category to China. At present, there are more than a dozen China students in Lang Shining who know their names.
