"This pure and kind heart" wrote Tolstoy's character. His purity is reflected in his profound criticism of the dark reality, his yearning for goodness and light, his hatred of darkness, corruption and hypocrisy, his courage to reflect and repent his sins, and his inner struggle between good and evil. His "benevolence" is embodied in his thought of universal love, and he can think from the standpoint of the people. The metaphor "Like a bright light, we can always find their best qualities from others" is well used and writes his profound insight: we can see through the depths of others' souls and find beauty in them. As Lenin said, Tolstoy is a mirror of Russian society.
