This is one of the reasons why most people's achievements in life are very limited. After all, when they ruin their future, no one will give us an early warning.
First of all, before reading this article, please ask yourself a question-do you really understand the truth of "continuous action"?
First, talking about the truth is not really understood.
/kloc-Pascal, a French philosopher in the 0 th and 7 th centuries, once said in the Record of Thoughts: "People usually believe what they find more than what others find."
To fully understand the importance of a thing, we must start from the sensory level, take root and sprout in the brain, just like the trunk sprouting, in order to truly integrate into our own cognition.
If the cognitive level is determined by what you hear, then the smartest people in the world should be new media editors, because they have to deal with a lot of articles and books every day-including all kinds of "words to wake up the world" and philosophy of life.
When people say that they "understand" a truth, it actually includes three levels:
1, do not seek an extraordinary solution. For this reason, I only remember the content, maybe I can show it off when chatting, but I have neither in-depth understanding nor my own thinking.
2. I have my own thoughts and doubts about the truth, but it is not really combined with real life.
3, personal practice, in-depth thinking about the problems encountered, seeing the experience summed up by others, can better criticize and absorb, and turn it into their own use.
Even a simple word "understand" has different depths. Therefore, the Tao Te Ching said: "Staff sergeant is diligent when he hears the Tao; The sergeant heard that living is death; The corporal smiled. Just laughing is not enough. "
The difference in depth lies in how much money we spend to get the feeling of "understanding". Easy to understand, low cost, short path, quick forgetting and errors; Enlightenment requires a lot of time and energy, which is long, slow and impressive, and can be internalized into one's own skills.
To outsiders, it may be the same word "understand", but the skill behind it is quite different.
Second, don't let illusion dominate your actions.
At the beginning of continuous operations, two kinds of mistakes are often made.
1, desire exceeds action.
The first common illusion occurs in people who have just started to act. Statisticians say that 90% people think they are above average, so they either don't work hard or do great things and do many things at the same time.
All-round construction may mean total collapse. If the ability is not so strong, you might as well step by step, and time will be the best aid.
Subtraction must be done before addition can be done. At the beginning of the plan, if you try your best to add yourself, your weak actions will be diluted by the expansion of desire, and it is likely that the first step will be difficult to take.
On the contrary, focusing on the goal, making a single breakthrough and choosing a breakthrough point may be more friendly to the initiator.
2. Entertainment obsession
Looking around, you will find that many people are more emotional than rational. They can't really devote themselves to their work, but they are always expecting some kind of entertainment compensation.
Some people will celebrate all night after completing the plan, which will eventually lead to the destruction of their schedule and delay the next stage of work. Some people will choose to overeat, and then need more exercise to burn excess calories.
The most important thing is that this obsession with entertainment will make him lose patience, become perfunctory, and lose the original value of the plan in the final stage.
Third, as long as you can get there, even if it is a detour.
Life is changing all the time. Only in a constant world can the shortest path be effective. In the rapidly changing times, there is only the way you come out, there is no so-called detour and straight road.
I would rather be afraid of walking than taking a detour.
On the contrary, if someone claims that they can take you a shortcut, be careful. Wang Xing said: "People are willing to do anything to avoid thinking." Because thinking is very painful, there are always people who use people's psychology to dig traps and set traps.
The detour of growth is a shortcut, and the shortcut of growth is action.
I have a student named Kitty who has been reading three field literature reviews every day for five years, two in English, one in German and one in intensive reading. She entered the Karolinska Medical College in Sweden from an ordinary small hospital and got a job opportunity at Oxford University. Now she is an intern at Cleveland Clinic, which is one of the best hospitals in America.
She used to be told that she was not fit to be a doctor. Now someone tells her, "You were born to be a doctor."
Growth is really compound interest. When a person starts to act and step onto a higher platform, there will be more opportunities ahead and it will get better and better.
Four or three days is to do everything.
Too long a plan can make people feel anxious, but in fact we don't need it-will you make a plan that will keep you breathing all your life?
We only need to make plans for three days-today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.
What's the mission today? Can you finish it?
What are you going to do tomorrow? Can you arrange a time?
Will there be an emergency the day after tomorrow? Can I deal with it successfully?
Many people will hesitate to invest and try to find a shortcut. These are basically manifestations of lack of action. Of course, life is the beginning of a story, and a story is a collection of accidents. It is inevitable that all kinds of accidents will lead to the failure to complete the plan. At this time, we might as well adopt "bottom line thinking".
At the beginning of the plan, ask yourself: How much time can you spare during the busiest time? Please ask yourself in the most rational and conservative way, and then turn it into the bottom line that you must stick to.
The bottom line may be an hour, maybe a note. Once it is decided, the next thing to do is to resolutely implement it. On the "Bottom Line Task", you can set the "Promotion Task". Finally, at the end of the month, count how many days you have only completed the bottom line, and how many days you still have to challenge the "promotion task", calculate the ratio, and then optimize this ratio in the next month's action.
We never have enough time, but at least we can choose to stick to the bottom line.
Fifth, learn to do "slow feedback"
Hourly workers pay by the hour. The wages of ordinary employees will be settled next month, and there are also quarterly settlements. Two years before starting a business may be a loss. What about investment funds? The payback period may take 3-5 years or 7 years. The feedback of continuous action is longer, and now we have invested time and energy. If we continue to generate income after 30 years, it shows that we have the ability of "passive income" which is very popular now.
It is true that not getting feedback is an anxious and painful thing, but in the process of growing up, slow feedback or even no feedback is a common result. If we can't accept the thinking of "slow feedback", it will be difficult to achieve long-term sustainable development.
Few people know that 99% of Buffett's wealth in his life was acquired after he was 50 years old. He gave an example in an interview: "From 1900 to 1999, the Dow Jones index rose from 65.73 to 1 1497.5438+02, an increase of 176 times. 176 times, quite impressive, isn't it? But do you know its compound annual growth rate? The answer will surprise you: only 5.3%.
Many investors can achieve this growth rate, but they are too low to make such investments. But Buffett is different. He was willing to persist in this way for decades, so he finally became a super rich man. Amazon CEO Bezos asked him: "Your investment philosophy is very simple, why not simply copy your practice?"
Buffett said: "Because no one wants to get rich slowly."
Conclusion of intransitive verbs
In this era when everyone is busy looking for a shortcut to success, everyone wants to be famous, promoted and get rich quickly, but few people choose to take a long-term view, but this world is so strange: those who want to take a shortcut finally take a detour, and those who want to speculate finally fall into the trap.
Angela, a psychologist who won the MacArthur Genius Award, said: There are many smart people in the world, and everyone else you can think of can think of them. In the end, you can win among the smart people because you are more determined than others. Only those who persevere in the long run can become friends of time. "
