Name of main person
Jack Barnes and Ms Brett Ashley
brief Introduction of the content
Barnes, an American youth, suffered a spinal injury in World War I and lost his sexual ability. When he was a reporter in Paris after the war, he fell in love with the Englishman Lady Ashley. Mrs Barnes pursues pleasure blindly, but he can only drown his sorrows in wine. The couple and a group of boyfriends and girlfriends went to Pamplona, Spain, to attend the Bull Running Festival and pursue spiritual stimulation. His wife rejected Cohen's hard pursuit, but fell in love with 19-year-old matador Romero. However, after a period of time together, due to the age gap between the two sides, and Mrs. Ashley couldn't bear to ruin the future of innocent young people, this relationship came to an abrupt end. Mrs. Barnes finally returned to her side, although both sides knew that they could never really be together. This is Hemingway's first novel, by which the author became the spokesman of the "lost generation" and created Hemingway's unique style of writing with this book.
