The first word "Om" in the mantra of Guanyin Bodhisattva symbolizes the five wisdoms and is an auspicious word. Most of the mantras are composed of Starting with the word "Om". Origin of inheritance
When the Buddha Sakyamuni was still alive, a Bodhisattva named Remove Obstacles - one of the eight great Bodhisattvas - begged the Buddha to teach him the six-syllable Great Ming Mantra. The Buddha said: "In my past life, I once learned this mantra from Tathagata Lotus Flower."
It turns out that Tathagata Lotus Flower has experienced countless worlds, but learning this mantra has yielded no results. When he arrived in the Western Paradise, he met Amitabha Buddha. Amitabha asked Guanyin Bodhisattva to teach him. At that time, the earth shook, precious flowers rained from the sky, and various divine transformations and auspicious signs appeared. After the Tathagata on the Lotus received the mantra, he saved countless sentient beings.
In his past life, before he became a Buddha, the Buddha had the Tathagata on the Lotus Flower teach him this mantra. After he became a Buddha, he also taught this mantra many times. However, when Bodhisattva Removing Obstacles asked for teaching, the Buddha said: "There is a Dharma Master in the great city of Parana in India. That Dharma Master violates the precepts and has a wife. It is rare to find that Dharma Master who can receive and uphold the six-syllable Great Ming Dharma." Ni, seeing that Dharma Master is the same as seeing the Tathagata."
The Obstruction-Removing Bodhisattva then led the crowd to pay homage to the Master. After the Master imparted the six-character Great Ming Mantra, the Obstruction-Removing Bodhisattva offered a necklace to the Master.
