Regarding the related records of the myth of Nuwa, the earliest documents can be found in Shan Hai Jing and Chu Ci. The former was written in the middle and late Warring States Period to the middle and early Han Dynasty, while the latter was written by Qu Yuan, a doctor of Chu State in the late Warring States Period. In Shan Hai Jing Da Huang Xi Jing, the record about Nu Wa is as follows:
"There are ten gods, named Nu Wa's intestines, who turned into gods, living in the wild of Li Guang and crossing the road." -Shan Hai Jing Wild West Jing
And in Qu Zi's Chu Ci Tian Wen, the record about Nu Wa is:
"Nu Wa has a body, who can make it?" -Qu Yuan's "Chu Ci Tian Wen"
