San Qian all came from a family of knowledge: Qian Xuesen was born in 1991; Qian Weichang was born in 1912; Qian Sanqiang was born in 1913. San Qian was an alumnus of Tsinghua University: Qian Sanqiang entered the Physics Department of Tsinghua in 1932 and studied in France in 1935. Qian Weichang entered the Physics Department of Tsinghua in 1931, became a graduate student in 1935, and then went to Canada and the United States to study. In 1934, Qian Xuesen was admitted to Tsinghua University to study in the United States at public expense. San Qian returned to China with patriotic enthusiasm; Qian Weichang returned to China in 1946 and was a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in Ren Qinghua. Qian Sanqiang returned to China in 1948 and became a professor in the Physics Department of Ren Qinghua. Qian Xuesen returned to China in 1955 and devoted himself to the national defense of the motherland.

San Qian is an academician of China Academy of Sciences and a pillar of China Academy of Sciences: Qian Xuesen is the director of the Institute of Mechanics of Chinese Academy of Sciences; Qian Wei K is the deputy director of Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Qian Sanqiang is the director of Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

from 1954 to 1956, San Qian participated in the formulation of the 12-year plan for natural science in China. Premier Zhou called them "San Qian" when he met them.
