Integrity is a moral category, the second "ID card" of citizens, and a collective term for honesty in daily behavior and credibility in formal communications. It generally refers to being sincere, honest, trustworthy in dealing with others, keeping promises and so on. But generally it mainly refers to two aspects: first, it refers to being sincere and honest in dealing with people, respecting facts and seeking truth from facts; second, it refers to keeping promises.
1. Be honest. Confucius said: "If a person has no faith, he does not know what he is capable of." This means that if you are not honest and trustworthy, and your words and deeds are inconsistent, you will not be able to live in the world and be a good person.
2. Our country is a country with ancient civilization and a land of etiquette. We have always attached great importance to the moral cultivation of honesty and trustworthiness. "Shuowen Jiezi" written by Xu Shen of the Eastern Han Dynasty said: "Trust means sincerity." Ancient sages and philosophers have many explanations on integrity. "A gentleman's words are true and true." Symbol means proof and verification, "The reason why words are words is that they believe in them; if they don't believe in words, how can they be words?" That is to say, people must count what they say. "Integrity is the knot of the world", which means that integrity is the key to the world's code of conduct; Confucius also talked about integrity many times, such as: "If you believe, people will do whatever they want;" "Since ancient times, all people have died, and people have no faith. Don't stand. "Zhuo Gong traveled a thousand miles as scheduled
3. Be honest and trustworthy and fulfill your promises. You must be faithful and your actions will be resolute.
Zhuo Shu, courtesy name Gongxing, was born in Shangyu, Zhejiang. He is a sincere and trustworthy person, and he will do things immediately when he promises to do them; when he goes on a date with someone, even if there are storms, thunder, lightning, ice and snow, he will always arrive as scheduled. One time, Zhuo Gongxing returned from Jianye to visit his family in Kuaiji (today's Shaoxing, Zhejiang), and went to say goodbye to the Imperial Tutor Zhuge Ke. Zhuge Ke asked, "When will you return?" Zhuo Gongxing replied, "I will come back some day." See you in person."
On that day, Zhuge Ke planned to host a banquet for some guests and kept drinking and feasting in order to wait for Zhuo Gongxing. At that time, all the guests at the banquet thought that it was more than a thousand miles from Kuaiji to Jianye, and it was difficult to say that there would be no danger of storms on the way. How could they be sure to arrive as scheduled?
No matter what the guests said, Zhuge Ke insisted on waiting for Zhuo Gongxing, because he knew Zhuo Gongxing and knew that he was an honest gentleman. He would definitely arrive if he said he would arrive today. After a while, Zhuo Gongxing arrived. Everyone was surprised.
4. Standing tall as a letter
During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Shang Yang of Qin presided over the reform with the support of Qin Xiaogong. At that time, when wars were frequent and people were in panic, in order to establish prestige and promote reforms, Shang Yang ordered a three-foot-long log to be erected outside the south gate of the capital, and made a promise in public: Who can move this log to the north gate? The bounty is ten taels. The onlookers didn't believe that such an easy thing could get such a high reward, so no one was willing to give it a try. So Shang Yang increased the reward to 50 gold. There must be a brave man under the heavy reward, and finally someone stood up and carried the wood to the north gate. Shang Yang immediately rewarded him with fifty gold coins. Shang Yang's move established prestige in the hearts of the people, and Shang Yang's subsequent reforms soon spread in the Qin State. The new law made Qin gradually stronger and stronger, and finally unified China.
