Interpretation of nouns in the relationship between politics and religion
Church and country, one of the propositions of Christian practical theology, is that church and political power are the dual ruling powers established by God in human history according to its eternal authority: the former is in charge of salvation, but for the purpose of transcending historical salvation, caring about the relationship between man and God, and is the vessel for God to convey his grace and implement his salvation; The latter focuses on the order of the world, manages social governance and justice, and is the carrier of God's justice in history. Traditionally, the church has the following views on the relationship between politics and religion: (1) it advocates that religious authority is higher than political power on the grounds that spiritual authority is higher than secular authority, which was adopted by Roman Catholicism in history; (2) It is believed that spiritual authority and secular authority are the carriers of God's will, and the government is the equal right-hand man of God, performing their respective duties; Represented by the traditional Protestant "national church model"; (3) It is believed that spirituality and politics belong to different fields and do not interfere with each other, and that "separation of church and state" is the mode of church and state in most contemporary democratic countries.
