Ah Q’s self-deception, self-contempt, self-abasement, self-deprecation, self-explanation, self-humiliation, arrogance, self-intoxication, etc. In short, in the face of failure and humiliation, we dare not face reality, but use false victories to mentally self-comfort and self-anaesthetize. The world praises Tao Yuanming for his hermit spirit, but in my opinion, Tao Yuanming might not be a person like Ah Q. Tao Yuanming also served as an official before living in seclusion, but the darkness of the officialdom and the cruelty of reality made him disappointed with that era, so that he lived in seclusion. ....Since he is angry at the world, why not use his own power to change reality? Just a blind escape. He only uses seclusion to avoid the dark reality. He uses false victory to mentally comfort himself. Isn't the method of self-anaesthesia exactly the same as Ah Q's? And if everyone in the world is like Tao Yuanming who dare not face reality, change reality, or escape from reality, how can China's modern history of humiliation be changed with the efforts of revolutionaries? From this perspective, Tao Yuanming-style hermits all have the spirit of Ah Q in them. Just some of my own insights, I hope they are useful to you.
