Anecdotal allusions
Although Washington won the highest rank at that time when he died-Samsung's Lieutenant General, with the passage of time, more and more generals (starting from Grant) won the same and higher ranks (four stars and five stars), which seems like Washington's achievements are not as good as theirs.
It was not until Congress passed a bill in 1976 that Washington was posthumously named General of the Armies of the United States (equivalent to the rank of Grand Marshal in the Soviet Union and other countries), and it was officially declared as the highest rank in the United States, surpassing all marshals (five-star generals) and generals in the past and in the future.
Commemoration for Later Generations
Washington, together with theodore roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson and abraham lincoln, was chosen by johncalvin coolidge. Their faces were carved on the huge stone wall of Mount Rushmore, becoming one of the most famous statues in the United States and a symbol of the United States. Among them, the bust of the founding president Washington ranked first. His eyes were sharp, staring ahead thoughtfully.
