The Living Buddha Jigong once said, "That is when meat and wine pass through the intestines, but remain in the heart of the Buddha." It means that as long as you have Buddha in your heart, it is okay to eat meat and drink alcohol. Jigong not only said this, but also did it. He usually plays in the world, is not bound by the precepts, and is fond of wine and meat. Generally speaking, there are many monks who live such an unfettered life. However, in modern Japan, there is a female nun who goes even further than Jigong. She not only eats meat and drinks alcohol, but also indulges in male sex. She is extremely tough in life. This nun’s name is Setouchi Shanting, born on May 15, 1922. She is almost 98 years old this year.
When she was not a nun, her name was Setouchi Harumi, which was later changed to Shitinori in 1973, which was her monastic name. The name of Buddhism sounds a bit quiet, but in fact Setouchi's life has never been as quiet as before, even when he became a nun. She grew up in a family that ran a Buddhist altar, and when she grew up, she was admitted to Tokyo Women's University. While in college, he met and fell in love with scholar Sano, and the two entered the palace of marriage. In October 1943, Jun Sano was invited to teach at the former Fu Jen University (now Beijing Normal University) and Peking University. Ji Ting was pregnant at the time. There were indeed many Japanese going to live in China at that time, so she followed and gave birth to a daughter in Beijing. Later, Japan was defeated and most of the Japanese were deported back to the country. Jun Sano is obsessed with ancient Chinese music. Insisting on leaving and hoping to bury his body in China, the couple continued to remain anonymous.
They were discovered in June 1946 and had to return to their hometown. Ji Ting was 24 years old that year. However, soon after returning to China, she established a romantic relationship with her husband's student, Otohiko Kinoshita, who was four years younger than her. Jiting abandoned her husband and daughter for this reason and went to Kyoto to meet Otoyan, but they soon separated. In Kyoto, she had relationships with several men. Seto Uchizaki heard her admit that she was addicted to men. Among them, the one who impressed her most was the married Kosugi Tsujiro, but their extramarital relationship lasted for eight years. Kosugi Tsujiro became a student of writer Ozaki Kazuo, and it was he who taught Ji Ting how to become a writer. In 1956, Jiting published his debut novel, a novel with a lesbian theme. Once released, it was a hit. "Hanako" and "Utanoko Dazzling" published later also have a strong female consciousness, so they are called womb writers. ?
In 1963, Jiting had already occupied a place in the literary world, and Otoyan appeared again. What I didn't expect was that this man just wanted to use her money to develop his career. He didn't care about her age and sex, so he hooked up with a young female employee of his company. In the end, Otoyan abandoned her again, which devastated Jiting, and she became a nun out of despair. Originally, she wanted to become a Catholic priest, but her past actions were too ridiculous and the Catholic Church was unwilling to accept her. Not only can Japanese monks eat meat and drink water, but they can also live as husband and wife as usual, and many of them have children. Therefore, Ji Ting can naturally eat meat and drink wine.
But it was her work that made her popular. After becoming a nun, her work became even better. Gradually, young people read his books, women printed his famous quotes on their clothes, and the audience was full. It's amazing that this story was brought to the big screen and truly became a legend. Of course, she's also quite controversial. Some think she lived a casual life and achieved great things. Some people think that she is so cold and unwilling to abandon her husband and daughter that her private life is chaotic and despicable. However, no matter what the outside world says, Jiting always puts his ears aside and lives a comfortable life. ?
