A man with a way (a saint) is like water. Water nourishes all things without conflict with them, and is located in a place that others don't like (downstream, dirty place), so water is close to Tao. A wise man (sage) lives in an elegant residence, with a calm mood, keeps the principle of kindness in dealing with people, abides by the principle of faith in what he says, manages the country in an orderly way, does things in a capable manner, and acts in line with the weather. Because it is as soft as water, there is no disaster.
