I majored in architecture. I think the following books are better and I would like to give them a reference:
First grade
A Must-read (related to the course) B Recommended (architecture Literacy)
A
1 "The 20 Years of an Architect"
Author: Editor: Tadao Ando Laboratory, Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, University of Tokyo
Translator: Wang Jing, Wang Jianguo/Fei Yishan
Publisher: Tsinghua University Press
Reason for recommendation: Easy to understand, the whole book is filled with the appreciation of architecture by giants in the architectural field The love and persistence of learning are contagious.
2 "Shape and Modernism"
Author: Jia Beisi
Publisher: China Construction Industry Press
Reason for recommendation : A very good reference material for freshman class composition, and very helpful for training modeling abilities and expression methods. It is much better and more interesting than the composition book published by Tsinghua University. However, there are enough and good pictures that make it easy for lower grade students to fall into simple plagiarism, so they should still learn the logical method of modeling.
3 "Exterior Space Design"
Author: Ashihara Yoshinobu
Translator: Yin Peitong
Reason for recommendation: required every year in freshman year I made a course design, but it’s a bit hard to find. It’s a must-see.
4 "Communication and Space"
Author: (Denmark) Gale
Publisher: China Construction Industry Press
Recommended Reason: This book provides a detailed analysis of the methods of attracting people to walk, rest, stop, and play in public spaces at all spatial levels from residences to cities, thereby promoting people's social interactions, and provides many unique insights. It is discussing the basic issues of space.
5 "Architecture: Form, Space and Order (Second Edition)"
Author: Cheng Dajin
Publisher: Tianjin University Press
Reason for recommendation: It is available on the 10th floor. Many senior students have it. It is basic enough to start from one point. It is thick enough to lay the foundation and substantial enough. This kind of book needs to be read over and over again, even from freshman year to junior year. It is better not to read it than to skim it once. It is especially recommended for students who feel that their basic skills are poor. There are actually quite a few similar books like Peng Yigang's "Theory of Architectural Space Combination", which seems boring compared to it.
6 "DOMUS" magazine
Reason for recommendation: After the Chinese version was published, Chinese architects are very lucky. Freshman students often look through the recent magazines of DOMUS to learn about the architectural world. The issues that concern people in the design world are that if you don’t know who Koolhaas and Zaha are now, you are studying architecture in vain. The magazine is very good, my favorite.
B
1 "Dialogue between Le Corbusier and Students"
Author: (France) Le Corbusier Foundation
p>Publisher: China Construction Industry Press
Reason for recommendation: Le Corbusier is a name that people who study modern architecture cannot avoid, just like people who study philosophy can never avoid it. But Kant. Reading Corbusier is a strange feeling of complexity, contradiction, and contradiction, or that he is a seed.
2 "Le Corbusier's Whole House"
Author: Tadao Ando Laboratory, Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, University of Tokyo
Translator: Cao Wenjun
Publisher: Ningbo Publishing House
Reason for recommendation: Tadao Ando’s graduate student expressed Le Corbusier’s 106 residences in the form of detailed graphic models, which is of self-evident value. (You may or may not finish it in your freshman year. You will gain something if you read it repeatedly, draw and analyze it repeatedly.)
3 "Towards New Architecture"
Author: Le Corbusier
Translator: Chen Zhihua
Publisher: Shaanxi Normal University Press
Reason for recommendation: The greatness of modernist architecture declaration. Understand the most basic concepts of modernism.
4 "The Aesthetics of Streets"
Translator: Yin Peitong
Author: Ashihara Yoshinobu
Publisher: Baihua Literature and Art Publishing House
Reason for recommendation: The author combines many contemporary architectural theories and rich knowledge into easy-to-understand and fluent words, which are popular but not superficial. Moreover, the author applies these theories to his own architectural creation and illustrates these theories through a large number of his works, so it is highly theoretical but not divorced from practice.
This is a very good book, highly recommended.
5 "Logical Concept of Architectural Form"
Author: (Germany) Thomas Schmidt
Translator: Thomas Schmidt/Xiao Yiqiang
Reason for recommendation: I thought it was a big book at first, but it is actually a very small book. The principles are very clear. You should read it when you get started. Rationality is something we lack when designing. .
--------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ---------------------
A must-read for second grade students (basic architectural literacy) B recommended (optional reading)/course-related books I should be able to find it myself
A
1 "Tadao Ando on Architecture"
Author: Tadao Ando
Translator: Bai Lin Publisher: China Construction Industry Press
Reason for recommendation: There are a lot of inspirational books on the market now. When it comes to inspirational books in the construction industry, this one is well-deserved. This book is based on what Tadao Ando himself gave to a graduate student in the Department of Architecture at the University of Tokyo. He wrote his first book based on the content of his lectures, and wrote about his extraordinary architectural journey. Whether it’s star chasing or admiration, let yourself be moved once!

3 Architecture Tutorial: Design Principles
Author: [Dutch] Herzberg
Publisher: Tianjin University Press
Recommendation reason: This book is a classic and talks about the basic responsibilities of architects to create a satisfactory environment. The book is relatively heavy and obscure, so you should read it slowly and every day. I have seen many people buy this book and read it enthusiastically for a few days before letting it go into a corner. Remember: take your time.
4 "Learning from Las Vegas"
Author: (U.S.) Venturi
Publisher: Water Conservancy and Hydropower Press
< p> Reason for recommendation: From today's perspective, the most important thing to learn from reading this book is the attitude of learning from reality, rather than specifically learning about Las Vegas. This is a very important book, and Koolhaas's "Crazy New York" was also influenced by it. Remember: learn from reality.5 "Architectural Vocabulary"
Author: Edward T. White
Publisher: Dalian University of Technology Press
Reason for recommendation : A good book with a simple foundation. It gives you some techniques and more importantly makes you think. Now turn to "Architecture: Form, Space and Order (Second Edition)". From now on, you have to start paying attention to the things mentioned in the book, which is an ongoing process. Remember: take your time and persist.
6 "DOMUS" + "Urban China" + "A+U" +...
Reason for recommendation: Highly recommend "Urban China", the design sense is not to mention, among the local magazines of cutting-edge. Read other magazines yourself and use the Internet to understand them, so I won’t go into details. See more.
B
1 "Architecture Tutorial 2: Space and Architects"
Author: Herzberg
Publisher: Tianjin University Press
Reason for recommendation: To be honest, there is no first classic. "Space" is the core topic of this book. In actual work, architects will inevitably touch the physical space, as well as the human spirit and cultural fields. Herzberg used his extensive experience, wisdom and rich image information to provide an important source of design inspiration for the majority of people who care about space design.
2 "Tadao Ando's Consecutive Defeats"
Author: Tadao Ando
Publisher: China Construction Industry Press
Reason for recommendation : After reading the previous book on architecture, you will want to read this one yourself. Not much to say, it is still very Ando.
3 "Anti-rationalists and Rationalists - Translations of Foreign Architectural Theories"
Author: (UK) Nicholas Pevsner
Publisher: China Construction Industry Press
Reason for recommendation: The book "Anti-rationalists and Theorists" brings together in one volume the opposing writings of some of the most famous architectural theorists. The theme is modernism, which is the most interesting issue of the 20th century. Good for getting to know the important figures on the stage of modern architecture. Perfect for holiday planning.
4 "Illustrated Thinking"
Author: (American) Paul Russo
Publisher: China Construction Industry Press
Reason for recommendation: This book is a basic theoretical monograph on architects' use of freehand sketching and illustration skills to assist architectural design thinking. Based on the second edition, this book adds content on computer-aided design and the Internet, and adjusts and supplements the order and content of other original chapters. This book discusses in detail the various skills and methods for perfecting and developing design concepts through freehand drawing, and is accompanied by a large number of freehand sketches with beautiful brushwork.
5 "Design and Analysis"
Author: [Dutch] Luben
Publisher: Tianjin University Press
Reason for recommendation : The book "Design and Analysis" is divided into 6 chapters, each chapter is related to the following design factors: organizational layout, practical functions, architectural structure, type research, background environment and analysis skills. The author uses time as verification and introduces various analysis diagrams in order to gain a deeper understanding of the architectural design process. There are more than a hundred illustrations cited as examples in the book.

p>
Publisher: China Construction Industry Press
Reason for recommendation: This book analyzes more than 400 works of more than 100 important architects and evaluates them through graphical methods applicable to any building.

< p> Reason for recommendation: This book is a very influential architectural theory work by Venturi. The author believes that architecture has shortcomings. Excellent architectural works must be contradictory and complex, rather than either pure or simple.
