Guangxi cold knowledge ①
Almost everyone mentions Guangxi and Guilin, and the first sentence that comes to mind is "Guilin is the best in the world".

After traveling to Guilin, every tour guide or local people will tell you that the next sentence is "Yangshuo is a scenic spot in Guilin".

But is this really the "official match" of "Guilin's landscape is the best in the world"?

We go back to the year 1200, that is, the sixth year of Qingyuan in the Southern Song Dynasty. At that time, 68-year-old Wang went to Ren Guang South Road, Guilin City, and mentioned to him something about supervising the power and the magistrate. Translated into modern Chinese, Guangnan West Road has a somewhat embarrassing title, which is equivalent to the highest leader in charge of politics and law in Guangxi and the mayor of Guilin.

In modern times, 60 is already the retirement age. In ancient times, this age was considered as an appropriate old age. It is not easy to be active in front-line work at this age.

This Ningbo-born old man has been an honest official all his life, and he is not afraid of offending powerful people or clinging to things. Therefore, although he stepped into the officialdom from his twenties and served as an official for decades, although he also made considerable achievements, he never rose to the top.

In his 60s, he served as a judge in Chaozhou. He once built Guangji Bridge on the Han River to facilitate communication and was praised by local people. In the sixth year of Qingyuan (A.D. 1200), at the age of 68, he went to Guangnan West Road in Guilin to mention something about the magistrate's power supervision, which was considered a slight promotion.

The first year of Jiatai (A.D. 120 1) coincided with the year-on-year ratio (one year after the bid was raised). That year, after having obtained the rural examination, Guangxi students passed 1 1 candidates. Wang has long heard that Guilin students often get good grades in imperial examinations. The result of this provincial examination also made him feel happy for the students, so he held a banquet in the government as a local official in accordance with the practice of minglu banquet.

The so-called Ming Road Banquet, now regarded as a celebration banquet, is a banquet for ancient local officials to congratulate students on passing the exam or getting a juror.

During the dinner, you must first play the songs of Luming Literature, and then read the songs of Luming Literature to enliven the atmosphere. When we were studying, "Yo, Yo, Deer Woo, Wild Apple ……" was recited by the Chinese teacher.

Master Wang gave a banquet in honor of 1 1 as usual. During the dinner, he wrote two seven-meter poems, one of which is familiar to us-

"Jiatai Gaiyuan Guilin Dabi and Jixie have one person, September 16th"

Guilin's landscape is the best in the world, jade Qing.

Morale is not inspiring, and the literary field is like a battlefield.

Tiger and leopard watch their opponents' nine passes, while Wan Li talks about drama.

Old eyes are clear, and gentlemen fight against the south.

The poem "Guilin's landscape is the best in the world" spread all over China from this wine table and was sung for a long time.

In fact, Wang's original intention is not to brag about Guilin's mountains and rivers, but to hope that his students will make further progress in their studies, strive to become famous, and make themselves as beautiful as Guilin's mountains and rivers in their studies.

Zhang Ciliang, a man in the audience, felt that listening to your words was better than reading for ten years, and engraved these two poems of Wang on the reading rock at the southern foot of Du Xiufeng.

No one expected that this poem of Wang's later years was the most brilliant moment in his life.

Soon after the poem was written, there was a case in which Xing 'an county magistrate indulged his son and killed a county official. As a local official, Wang enforced the law impartially, so he offended Xing 'an county magistrate and violated the hidden rules of officialdom, and was falsely accused of dismissal from office. Later, although the case was found out, Wang Cai was able to restore his reputation. However, without an official, he is old. He was sent by the imperial court to be a temple in Wuyishan, Fujian Province, and was in charge of worshipping Youguan, so he retired to the second line and died there.

Perhaps because Wang was dismissed from office, the parties deliberately covered the stone carving above Yueyan with mud in order to clear the relationship. Perhaps it has been a long time, and the rainwater seeping from the cliff wall is mixed with the sediment between the rocks and covered on the stone carving. In short, Wang's poems, carved on Du Xiufeng's reading rock, soon disappeared and even were forgotten.

Fortunately, the influence of famous sayings is amazing. The poems written by Wang at the banquet were taken to Lin 'an, the capital city, by the students at the banquet, and spread in all directions from Lin 'an. Over time, coupled with the different cultural upbringing and artistic taste of the Acura, the whole poem was omitted or forgotten by the Acura, leaving only the phrase "Guilin's landscape is the best in the world" which has been circulated for thousands of years.

The tide of history roared by, and few people remembered who Wang was and what he did. In 1 1 juren, there is not a great man who is immortal. But the only phrase "Guilin's landscape is the best in the world" is wrapped in the dust of history and passed down from mouth to mouth until today thousands of years later.

During this period, historians have been arguing about who said "Guilin's landscape is the best in the world".

It was discovered that Zengbo Li, the ambassador of Guangnan and the magistrate of Jingjiang in the 6th year of Southern Song Dynasty (A.D. 1258), wrote the sentence "Guilin's landscape is the best in the world" in the article "Rebuilding Xiangnan Building". In the eighth year of Guangxu reign in Qing Dynasty (A.D. 1882), Jin Wuxiang, the governor of Guangxi, wrote a poem "Traveling around the Rocks in Guilin", which changed the "mountains and rivers" in Zengbo Li's "Guilin is the best in the world" to "mountains and rivers". Therefore, the origin of "Guilin's landscape is the best in the world" has been debated in academic circles from the late Qing Dynasty to the 1980s. Some people say that it comes from Zengbo Li's "The Landscape of Guilin is the Best in the World", while others say that it comes from a poem with no phase of gold.

Until 1983, when the cultural relics workers in Guilin conducted a comprehensive investigation and cleaning of the stone carvings of Duxiufeng, they found that there seemed to be a crack under the Pennisetum at the entrance to the rock, which was not integrated with the stone wall. They gently opened the humus layer and made an unexpected discovery: this is a cliff stone carving that has not been discovered since the Ming and Qing Dynasties. When they cleaned up the stone wall and reprinted the stone carving works with skillful techniques, they found two poems on the tablet, which were engraved word for word with the poem "Guilin's landscape is the best in the world". The author is Wang, a native of Yinxian County, who served as a prisoner in Guangnan West Road during the Qing and Jiatai Dynasties in the Southern Song Dynasty. A famous sentence that has been lost in the dust of history for nearly 800 years has finally come to light. This poem by Wang was published about 50 years before Zengbo Li.

A stone tablet engraved with the poem "Guilin's landscape is the best in the world"

Today, people may no longer want to ask where the poem "Guilin is the best in the world" came from and who wrote it.

But fortunately, because of this poem, everyone remembered the landscape and beautiful scenery of Guilin.

More than 800 years later, "Guilin's landscape is the best in the world, and the jade is green" has been written into textbooks by later generations, which has become the deepest memory of Guilin for most people.

Until later, the scenery of Guilin was printed on the back of the fifth set of RMB 20 yuan banknotes: green mountains are stacked, bamboo shadows are swaying, a bay of clear water is coiled between the peaks and a bamboo raft is swaying on the Lijiang River. ...

The landscape of Guilin and the beauty of Lijiang River have become household names ever since.
