Gollum: My precious.
Gollum: My precious!
Originally named Trahald?, translated as Sméagol, Chinese translation Smeagol, he was once a Stur among the three branches of the Hobbit, and was the holder of the Lord of the Rings. The sound produced is named Gollum.
After picking up the Lord of the Rings, he was attracted by its power and fell. His life was extended by the power of the One Ring, and he was full of distrust towards people. He owned the One Ring for 500 years until it was taken away by Bilbo Baggins.
So he later found Frodo Baggins on his journey with the Lord of the Rings expedition, and waited for an opportunity to snatch back the Lord of the Rings that he thought belonged to him. His jealous line "my precious!" when faced with the Lord of the Rings has also become a famous line.
Extended information:
Life experience: Gollum's original name is Smeagol, and he is a member of the Stoor Hobbits. Smeagol spent his early years living with relatives on his grandmother's side. On Smeagol's birthday, he and his relative Dego went fishing in the Graton Plains north of Lothlorien. Dego was dragged into the river by a big fish and discovered the Supreme Lord of the Rings. Smeagol asked Dego to give him the One Ring as a birthday gift. Dego refused the request. Smeagol killed Dego and took the One Ring.
Sméagol used the One Ring to steal, spy and carry out various evil acts. He was soon expelled from the people and lived in a cave in the Misty Mountains. His body and mind were distorted by the negative power of the One Ring, which extended his lifespan. The appendix to The Return of the King reveals that Gollum has lived for nearly 600 years. He calls the One Ring a "baby" or a "birthday present", the latter being Sméagol's excuse for killing Drago.
