This set of comic book biographies of world greats introduces four great men in different fields: Edison (the king of inventions), Beethoven (Le Saint), the Wright brothers (the inventor of the airplane), and Marie Curie (the scientist) ), exploring the characteristics of success through the lives of great men.
There are currently four Taiwanese versions of this set of books, introducing four great men in different fields: Edison (the King of Inventions), Beethoven (Le Saint), and the Wright Brothers (inventors of the airplane) ), Marie Curie (scientist), explore the characteristics of success through the lives of great men.
To be honest, apart from locally created comics, I rarely recommend comic books, because many Korean comics (Looking for X, OO Experiment King...) can be learned by many children without encouragement. Binge reading, but I have to be honest: although image reading is convenient and fast, it does not help children to enter the reading of medium and long-form literature. On the contrary, it will make children linger in the world of comics.
This set of new works published in 2016 is refreshing. First of all, it eliminates the funny and exaggerated scenes of Korean comics and replaces them with sincere and profound historical descriptions of characters. To be honest, when I finished reading "Beethoven", my eyes were wet... I was deeply moved!
In addition, this set of books has some ingenious ideas that can make people rethink the issue of "Why great men are successful." For example, on the inside back cover of each book, there is a double-page spread of "Quotations left by great men." , my second child (little six) liked Edison very much. After reading it, he copied what Edison said in his diary, like:
"The true great man, He is a person who never complains even if he has many worries."
"After 99 failures, as long as you succeed once, it is worth it."
I also said this to Beethoven. If so, copy it down and use it as your own motto:
"The best way is to avoid overthinking your own misfortunes and concentrate on your work."
"My music must It is music that can help and inspire people."
In addition to comics, the second half of this book also contains many basic knowledge supplements, which are very educational. For example, Beethoven’s book introduces the history of classical music (Renaissance, Renaissance, etc.) Baroque period, classical school, romantic school, the evolution of modern music), as well as explanations of classical music types (such as: What is opera? Orchestra? Concerto? Chamber music?), which may not be available to children in lower grades. I understand, but in middle and high school, you can revisit the past and learn new things, so I personally feel that this set of books is a good book that can be passed on to junior high schools and read over and over again! Worth collecting. ?
