Comparison between Zhuangzi and Rousseau's Return to Nature
Zhuangzi and Rousseau are two romanticism masters in China and the West. Their romantic view of nature is mainly based on the alienation of human beings and requires the restoration of human nature, but they are different. Zhuangzi takes "Tao" as the core and demands to return to the true state of nature. Rousseau put forward the slogan of "returning to nature", but he thought that the defects of civilization should be overcome by higher civilization. What Zhuangzi wants to return to is passive and heartless natural humanity, which means "abandoning saints and knowing".
