As the saying goes: "Jiangnan gardens are the best in the country, and Suzhou gardens are the best in Jiangnan." Generally speaking, Suzhou gardens have three characteristics. 2. Zhouzhuang Ancient Town
Zhouzhuang Ancient Town is a pre-selected world cultural heritage site and one of the first batch of national 5A tourist attractions. It is located in the southeast of Suzhou City and at the junction of Kunshan, Wujiang and Shanghai. .
Zhouzhuang Ancient Town is surrounded by water. The town is formed by the river, the streets are formed by the water, and the street is the city. There are 14 ancient stone bridges built in the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties that are well preserved on the well-shaped river. More than 800 aboriginal households live along the river, and more than 60% of the houses still retain the architectural style of the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
3. Eight Tiger Hill
Huqiu is located in the Huqiu Mountain Scenic Area in the northwest corner of the ancient city of Suzhou. It has a long history of more than 2,500 years and is known as "the best in Wuzhong". The famous saying of the great poet Su Dongpo of the Song Dynasty, "It would be a pity not to visit Huqiu in Suzhou!" has made Huqiu a fascinating place for tourists.
4. Suzhou Museum
Designed by the famous architectural design master Ieoh Ming Pei, it has a traditional Suzhou garden style, with staggered heights, dark gray roof and white walls, fresh and elegant. The pyramid-shaped glass skylight on the roof fills the museum with natural light. There are also courtyards, pools, and stone bridges in the museum, which are both traditional and modern.
5. Pingjiang Road Historic District
Pingjiang Road Historic District is located south of the Humble Administrator’s Garden. It has a history of more than 2,500 years and is a well-preserved ancient district. It is only separated from Guanqian Street to the west by an alley, but it has a completely different quiet and simple atmosphere. It can be said to be an "ancient town" that does not charge admission. It is very pleasant to stroll around and eat some snacks while looking at the buildings.
