Stephen Chow was born in a poor area in Kowloon, Hong Kong. His father is from Ningbo, Zhejiang, and his mother, Ling Baoer, is from Bao'an County, Guangdong. His name was given by his mother, and it comes from the line in "Preface to Prince Teng's Pavilion": "The misty columns of Xiongzhou, the stars galloping, the king of Taiwan rests on the crossroads of Yi and Xia, and the guest and host enjoy the beauty of the southeast."
In 1969, Stephen Chow’s parents divorced. Afterwards, Stephen Chow, his elder sister Zhou Wenji, and younger sister Zhou Xingxia grew up under the care of their mother, Ling Baoer. Stephen Chow Secondary School studied at St. Mary's English College in Hong Kong. Stephen Chow was partial to subjects when he was studying in school, and his grades in other subjects except Chinese were not good. After graduation, Stephen Chow worked as an office assistant for two months.
Business experience:
In 2000, he established Pinji International and held more than 60% of the company's equity. In 2002, he invested HK$30 million to buy two shops in Xianda Plaza in Mongkok, Hong Kong.
In 2004, it invested HK$320 million to purchase the land at No. 10 Polo Road, Hong Kong, China. In June 2009, Stephen Chow sold a shopping mall he owned to Ditong International Trading Company for HK$300 million.
In May 2010, he served as the executive director of Ditong International Trading Company and changed the company's name to Bigo Group Holdings Co., Ltd.
In 2011, Stephen Chow increased his holdings of shares in the Bigo Group, involving funds of HK$61.05 million. In the same year, he became the largest shareholder of the Bigo Group with a 56.2% shareholding.
In 2013, we jointly invested in the establishment of Journey to the West Cinemas with Cultural China Communication Group.
