From zero foundation in sales to the field of new media operations, first of all, this article is a summary of my career change. At the same time, I hope to give some experience and inspiration to those who read the article and are preparing to switch to new media operations.
Those with a sales background are most suitable for switching careers to new media operations!
Why do you say this? From an objective point of view, the main job of new media operations is to use media channels to attract traffic to enterprises and be responsible for the early development of corporate customers.
People with a sales background have a keen sense of customers and can better convey corporate product information. They have more advantages in conveying information than those who change careers in other industries. Of course, new media operations are also highly technical positions, and they require systematic learning to handle them with ease. (Note: If you need new media operation information, please contact me)
Let me introduce myself first. I am a male from Beijing, 35 years old. I have been in sales for more than nine years. I always believe that fate is not determined by fate. Through your own efforts, you can change the fate of the people at the bottom. Isn’t there an inspirational saying that says: Men are afraid of entering the wrong profession, and women are afraid of marrying the wrong man!
But I am indeed a person who “goes against nature” and I have been trying to choose an industry. During the nine-year sales period, I worked in four industries. Maybe I didn’t work hard enough, or maybe I didn’t encounter the legendary opportunity. In short, they failed to achieve their own "legend" and quietly exited.
My latest career change happened to be caused by external factors. In the past three years, I have been engaged in the headhunting consulting industry (in the direction of human resources). I thought it was stabilizing, but when we encountered the 2019 epidemic, the company failed to survive until the end, so we left again.
I believe that this epidemic has changed many life trajectories, causing many people to be thrown out of their original "comfort zone" by fate into the streets.
I think everyone has their own various reasons and reasons for changing careers, and many people should have some degree of compulsion. Questions such as “I can’t do it despite my hard work”, “The industry is no longer good”, “I’m not suitable” and so on. I have used all of the above external factors, and of course my own problems are not excluded. I will not discuss them here and continue with today’s topic.
After settling down at home, we started to find a way out. Nothing else. There were several people at home waiting to eat! If you follow the original work track, the more suitable ones are HR, personnel recruitment, and headhunting. Or start over. Through SWOT tool analysis of my current situation, I decided to enter the new media operation field. (Let me explain, the last position I was looking for in the headhunting industry was the director of new media operations, and I still have a certain understanding of this position)
In fact, the reason is very simple: there is no age limit, the income is considerable, and the entry requirements are low. , a popular field, the demand for jobs is huge, you don’t have to worry about no one wanting it, it’s a skill once you learn it.
I have a non-technical sales background and am not competitive, so changing careers is a big challenge for me.
Only when I really started to learn new media operations did I realize that it is not that easy to do well in this industry. I can only say that it is easy to get into the industry, but difficult to become a professional. It is essential to have a lot of professional knowledge and use auxiliary tools to complete operational work. Everyone agrees with that sentence: Learning is the primary productive force, and you must learn at any time.
Doesn’t it sound like a martial arts drama? Well, I personally prefer the joyful revenge of traveling in the world. . . . . . . .
Let’s go back to reality. It is still difficult to learn a relatively professional course from scratch. I started to consider self-study (I don’t know how many people have the same idea), but the actual situation is I can't touch the door. There is a lot of free information in the evening and I can't understand it. There are many live classes that I can’t understand. I don’t know anyone who has ever felt this way. It’s because they’re anxious, they’re angry, they just don’t know what to do.
Then you can only spend money to solve the problem. There is no problem that cannot be solved with money. Since you have decided to change careers, the sooner the better. I took out all my private money and prepared to enroll in a class to learn the system.
The picture comes from the Internet, I am afraid that my wife will have no place to hide the money after seeing it
After six months of burning the midnight oil, I finally got through it, and I felt like answering the question of the college entrance examination in school. The feeling, the joy after the pain, looking back at various materials with the knowledge I learned, gives me an indescribable sense of accomplishment.
(I have compiled some general information on learning the new media operation process into a toolkit, please contact me if you need it)
I recommend three channels for everyone to get new media operation courses for free:
Tencent Classroom: There are many free courses on new media operations, public customers and teaching skills, as well as regular live classes.
MOOC: An online learning platform, many universities have cooperated with it, and there are also many courses on new media operations.
Banzhi Self-Study Room: You can find a lot of free new media operation course materials on this platform.
My operation requires the possession of Li Bai, the ability to write and write articles
This is a metaphor. In fact, many people also understand that the main job of new media operations is content creation. Presenting product information in a form that everyone likes to hear and see requires operators to have certain writing skills.
Common content: product soft copy, event promotion copy, product promotion, etc.
Experience summary: Improving copywriting skills can be divided into three steps: First, master the writing logic. Second, learn to dismantle hot articles. Third, a large number of popular articles are imitated.
I recommend a book to everyone: "The Complete Manual of Copywriting Creation"
The sharp eyes of new media operations are data analysis tools. We must understand our customers as much as possible. Customer preferences, customer purchasing purposes, factors affecting customer orders, etc.
Analysis content: user source, user attributes, reading volume, keywords, etc.
Data tools: New List, Xigua Data, Yizhuan, Qingbo Big Data, etc.
< p> I am a part-time designer, modifying pictures and textsOne of the basic skills of new media operations is the modification and design of pictures and texts. The design requirements mentioned here are not that high, as long as they match the content of the article paragraphs. Can. The main purpose is to set off and highlight the text content, making the content more three-dimensional and more interactive with readers.
Mainly used tools: Gallery tools: Huaban.com, Qiantu.com, and Nitu.com. Editing tools: Band-Aid, Meitu Xiu Xiu, PS, etc.
In the early stage, you can use simple models and adjustments such as Band-Aid and Meitu Xiu Xiu to operate. Later, you can improve it by learning PS.
The essence of new media operations is to assist sales, and it is still related to marketing. "Internet Marketing Framework" is the underlying framework that directly operates in new media operations. Customer portraits can be obtained through the marketing framework and help operators further understand customers.
So is it okay not to learn? If you just want to be an executor and work as a clerk all your life, you don't need to learn. Those in higher-level operational positions, such as product operations managers and directors, are not all-rounders.
There are still many marketing frameworks. You can search for "marketing framework" online and there will be a lot of content to learn.
I recommend the 6w marketing framework to everyone. I am using it myself. Friends who are interested can learn it.
This sharing and summary work is coming to an end. New media operation is an area that requires continuous learning and practice. The knowledge learned systematically can only cope with basic work, and there is still a lot of content that needs further learning and digestion. Only through continuous improvement can we cope with more complex tasks.
It is still difficult to switch to new media operations with zero foundation. As I mentioned before, the main problem is the lack of professional guidance and lack of systematic learning. This will directly affect your future in this industry. With the development of the industry, the more advanced the position, the more comprehensive the requirements for knowledge and skills. If you want to go on this road for a longer time, you need continuous learning and continuous improvement. This is a summary written for myself, and also shared with friends who saw it. No matter what type of new job you are planning to engage in, improving competitiveness is the key.
I compiled a tool kit from the books I learned during my studies and some operational tools, which can be collected through my subscription account "Mortal Growth Notes"
