Why do westerners think that printing was invented by Gutenberg in Germany?
In fact, Gutenberg's printing is life-long movable type printing, but in different forms. Westerners believe that printing was invented by Gutenberg for two main reasons. Before Gutenberg invented printing, Europeans didn't know that printing had been invented by China. Secondly, after understanding China, westerners refused to admit that printing was invented by China because of the influence of racial discrimination and western European centralism. As a result, long-term publicity led to the widespread belief in Western Europe that printing was invented by Gutenberg.
