Yang Gensi Company participated in the arduous three-year guerrilla war in the south. During the Anti-Japanese War, the company, as the sharp knife of the New Fourth Army, repeatedly made great achievements in battles such as attacking Hushuguan at night, burning Hongqiao Airport, and decisive battle against Huangqiao. During the War of Liberation, the company successively participated in major battles such as Lunan, Subei, Laiwu, Meng Lianggu, Yudong, Huaihai, crossing the river and liberating Shanghai. In every battle, there must be a group of war heroes or platoon heroes. Volunteer headquarters awarded Yang Gensi the honorary title of superhero and named the company Yang Gensi Company.

The Party branch of the company has been commended by the Central Organization Department for many times as the national advanced grass-roots party organization, by the General Political Department as the advanced grass-roots party organization of the whole army, and by the military region as the honorary title of Hero Defending Company and Model Company for Grass-roots Construction. It has been 19 times established as a model company for grass-roots construction by the leading organs above the group army, and won the collective first-class merit twice, second-class merit eight times and third-class merit 23 times. In Wenchuan earthquake relief in 2008, Yang Gensi Company was awarded the honorary title of collective hero of earthquake relief by the Central Committee, the State Council and the Central Military Commission.
