Democracy is a beautiful word. On the surface it carries all due rights and obligations. However, it never really came to fruition. Because, more or less, as long as there is power, there will be no fairness, openness, and justice. Some people have long been accustomed to this kind of life, or they have not found any powerful events that conflict with personal interests in their lives. Therefore, people are content with this status quo, and it is better to do less than to do more. It just so happens that when personal rights are violated, when personal survival is squeezed to the limit, someone will always jump out and shout loudly. And this cry is "democracy". Song Youshuo may be the first person to shout this. Once upon a time, he also scorned rallies and processions, believing them to be the unnecessary sacrifices of useless scholars. However, when he learned that a citizen's human rights were being trampled on by state machinery, he felt outraged for committing such a crime. On this road to democracy, he decided to be the first to move forward. All his efforts in defending this incident were seen as hitting an egg with an egg. He himself also clearly knew the consequences of doing so, but he still persevered and forged ahead bravely. This reminded me of Tan Sitong. There is always someone who is the first to take the initiative in the world. On this road to democracy, there must always be the first to take the lead, waving the flag and shouting. Only when he is hoarse can he arouse more people to hear the voice of democracy.
In this defense, it seems that we can see more darkness and ugliness, but the most frightening thing is the concealment of the truth. In the court, what I still remember vividly is Song Youshuo shouting to the other party: "You are afraid of the truth." The truth, such a bright thing, has become the most invisible existence in the past dynasties. Perhaps because its light is so dazzling, it will make more people wake up or discover the nastiness and despicability. Perhaps, it has always been opposed to politics. Therefore, any ruler who plays politics is infinitely wary of it. The truth is like a time bomb, ready to explode at any moment. Anyone who wants to open this "Pandora's Box" for rulers will be a stumbling block on the way forward. For the state machinery, stumbling blocks will undoubtedly be ruthlessly crushed. After controlling the people's knowledge and public information, the truth will be forever buried in the dust, in exchange for endless lies. And everyone knows that one lie must be rounded off by another lie, so the incident will never stop. On the contrary, people will get further and further away from the truth.
