In "Zhuangzi", "forget" appears more than 80 times.
Zhuangzi regarded "forgetting" as the secret to eliminating troubles in life.
Forget things, forget feelings, and forget yourself. Only by doing these three things can you truly achieve the "free" state of life.
Forgetting Things
The "Book of Wisdom" says: Desire is God, and the energy of desire is equivalent to the energy of God.
The desire for external things is the instinct of life.
Rood, clothing, housing and transportation are all desires. Without desires, there would be no life.
However, it is difficult to satisfy one's desires and asking for too much is the beginning of a tragedy in one's life.
A landowner went to visit a tribal leader.
The leader said, you go west from here and make a mark. As long as you can come back before the sun sets, the land between here and that mark will be yours.
The sun went down, but the landlord did not come back because he had walked too far and died of exhaustion on the road.
Zhuangzi said: Things are things but not things.
In life, you must control external things and not be driven by material desires.
The human heart is limited and desires are endless.
Those who indulge in fame and wealth can only slide into the abyss step by step.
Zhuangzi said: The wren nests in the deep forest, but its nest is only a branch; the rat drinks from the river, but its belly is full.
Birds only need a branch to make their home, and mice can only drink water until they are full.
No disaster is greater than not being satisfied; no fault is greater than desire; therefore, contentment is always enough.
In today's world of great material abundance, letting go of greed and knowing how to be satisfied is the way to a good body.
Forgetting feelings
The lower class people are indifferent, the middle class people are affectionate, and the upper class people forget their feelings.
To forget one's feelings is not to be ruthless, but to be "affectionate but not tired".
Ordinary people are either ruthless and unable to appreciate the warmth of the world; or they are so affectionate that they cannot extricate themselves and feel sad and hurt.
Those who forget their feelings are those who have feelings but are not trapped by them, and are affectionate but not hurt by them.
Zhuangzi said: "When the spring dries up, the fish and the fish are on the land. It is better to forget each other in the rivers and lakes."
When the water in the rut dries up, the two fish The children are spitting bubbles and moistening each other. It is better to give up on each other and return to the river to be free and happy.
People are often moved by "helping each other", but they don't know that learning to give up and look away is the real open-mindedness.
They are not heartless, but they are deeply in love and have tasted it all, and finally they have to give up their persistence.
Too supreme and forgetful.
Jia Baoyu in "A Dream of Red Mansions" is sentimental and affectionate. However, after the drastic changes in his family, he tasted the warmth and coldness of the world and finally chose to become a monk.
When Zhuangzi’s wife died, he kept singing, thinking that his wife was just accompanying him in another form.
True love in this world is already rare, but it is delusional to insist that it last forever.
Between people, apart from separation in life, there is also separation in death.
This is human destiny.
Understanding this, people will be more open-minded.
Zhuangzi said: Knowing that there is nothing you can do and remaining calm is the ultimate virtue.
Only virtuous people can understand the helplessness of things and be content with the arrangements of fate.
Instead of lamenting and crying when we are separated, it is better to cherish it more when we are together.
Forgetfulness
There is such a story in "Zhuangzi·Shanmu": A man was crossing a river by boat, and there was a boat in front of him that was about to hit him. .
When the boat collided, they found that there was no one on the opposite boat and it was an empty boat. The anger just now disappeared without a trace in an instant.
If there is someone on the boat, it means that someone is offending you. If you are angry, you are defending your dignity.
If a person has too strong self-esteem and self-awareness, if someone offends him even slightly, he will immediately rebound and his emotions will explode.
Many conflicts between people originate from "I". Overemphasis on one's own feelings is the root of interpersonal conflicts.
Zhuangzi said: If a person can deprive himself of himself and wander around the world, who can harm him?
If a person doesn’t take himself too seriously, he will naturally not have so many worries.
When two boats collide, your first sentence is not to curse, but to ask: Are you okay?
Then you give the other party the feeling of being an empty ship. In this case, how can there be any dispute?
Travel in the world with emptiness, forget yourself, and think more about others. Only in this way can you neither harm things nor do harm to things, nor harm others nor harm others.
If you let go of your ego, you can naturally not care about everything and live a leisurely life.
