From Qing Dynasty —— Jin Ying's "Motto Lian Bi"
Jin Ying, born in Yinshan (now Shaoxing, Zhejiang), was born and died in an unknown year. During the light years of the Qing Dynasty, the famous sayings of the previous generation of philosophers were selected and compiled into a book "Motto Lian Bi", which was published in Xianfeng Yuan and was well received by people.
The book Lian Bi's Motto is a statement, which condenses the minds and bodies of the sages and sets a good example for future generations. The main contents of the book include ten categories: learning, survival, holding a bow (with photos), quality, behavior, acceptance, family, politics, benefit and fierceness. It can be described as "the treasure raft of adults and the ladder of sages".

Sitting still, always thinking about yourself and gossiping about other people's mistakes. Those who can bear hardships are people with lofty ideals, and those who are willing to bear hardships are not idiots. Respect a gentleman to show virtue, but fear a villain to be incompetent. The retreating field heights will calm the three points. If you want to make progress, you need to think backwards. If you start, you must let go first. If you are proud, don't focus on it. Everything should have more steps. It is better to think before you act, but patience is the highest when you are angry. Don't covet unexpected wealth, people who are satisfied are always happy.
I think it means not only how to do things well, but also how to do them badly. Don't be complacent when you are proud, and don't be rude when you are frustrated.
Sit still and think about yourself, not gossip.
From Qing Jin Ying's "Motto Lian Bi"
The first part is strict with self-discipline, and the second part is lenient with others. It means to calm down, always reflect on your mistakes, and then treat right and wrong, good and evil; Don't talk about other people's gains and losses when chatting, which is an important moral cultivation method advocated by Confucianism. The first part of the couplet quotes The Analects of Confucius and Wei Linggong: "It is far from complaining." In other words, reflect on yourself more and blame others less, and resentment will not come. Han Yu further explained: "Ancient gentlemen were responsible for themselves, but also paid attention to the week and were light on others. Focus on the week (strict and comprehensive), so don't be lazy; It is light (broad and simple), so people are charitable. " The second part (Original Extinction) comes from Wen Zi Shangyi: "Since ancient times and today, I have not been a perfect practitioner, so a gentleman does not blame others." In other words, no one is perfect, so people with virtue don't complain. How to be generous to others without considering their mistakes?
Hong Yingming, an Amin scholar, put it well: "Don't complain about small people, don't commit adultery, and don't forget old evils. The three can be self-cultivation or far-reaching. " ("Caigen Tan")
Sit still, think about yourself and talk about people. A person reviews his own mistakes while sitting, and never gossips when chatting with others.
Sit still and think about yourself, but don't say other people's poems. Sit still and think about yourself and talk about other people's mistakes.
