If you are not satisfied with suffering, you will expect to be comfortable. There are waves in people's hearts, and the world twists and turns. (Tang Libai)
There are two tragedies in life. One is that your desire is not satisfied, and the other is that your desire is satisfied. (Bernard Shaw, Ireland)
When you are controlled by desire, you are insignificant; You are great when you are inspired by enthusiasm. (France romain rolland)
This chapter focuses on three things: going to luxury goods and going to Thailand. The above three famous sayings coincide with Lao Zi.
My explanation is:
In the last chapter, Lao Tzu talked about "three knowledge and three observance", which requires people to practice internal strength, that is, knowing that they have the ability, but humbly lowering their posture, willing to hide their talents and be black without humiliation, which is what people say now.
So, why keep a low profile? He is afraid that people will not understand, so he will elaborate further in this chapter.
In this chapter, he refers to the world, and some versions always associate it with rulers. More or less one-sided.
This so-called "world" can not only refer to the "world" corresponding to the literal ruler, such as the country, but also extend to all the States that people's desires want to satisfy. It can be real or virtual.
According to the first meaning, such as the feudal dynasty, the founding monarch was always ambitious and always wanted to continue his rule forever.
The most typical one is Qin Shihuang. After he unified the country, he thought that his contribution was better than that of the previous Three Emperors and Five Emperors, so he adopted the titles of "Emperor" and "Emperor" of Huang San, later called "Emperor".
Because he was the first person to use this title, he was called "the first emperor". Then, "practicing Warwick City, because the river is a pool, according to the city of 100 million feet, is in the abyss and thinks it is solid. A good general guards the key. He believes in Chen Libing. Who is the best pawn? " He thinks that the descendants of the emperor will always be kings. "
As a result, only one or two years after his death, he was "a person suffering from seven temples and dying, making the world laugh." The huge Qin empire collapsed, and history uttered a sigh of eternal regret.
In later dynasties, such sad stories were constantly staged. It fully proves Lao Tzu's argument that it is actually impossible for the world to control the world.
Although I got it for a while and played it for several years, it won't last forever. If you get it, there will be a lot of trouble and you will eventually lose it.
Didn't the Monkey King say that? The emperor takes turns sitting on the ground and will come to my house next year. It is said that The Journey to the West was banned because of Po Hou's words.
Think about how the emperor at that time was afraid of losing the world, but the more he was afraid of ghosts, the more he was afraid of ghosts. Because this "loss" is heaven, no one can resist it.
According to the second meaning, such as individual. Your own desires are fully satisfied, and this is your own "world".
Strictly speaking, in fact, everyone has his own "world", and it is these countless "small worlds" that constitute human society. Home country, home country.
So there are differences in size, so there are different degrees of satisfaction in desire.
A big desire can make history shine, or it can be eclipsed. A small desire can make a person prosperous and discredited.
In a word, it is a double-edged sword, which can kill the enemy or self-harm.
So how to control it? Laozi gave the number of ways: what to go, luxury, and Thailand.
"What" is an excessively extreme behavior or measure;
"Luxury" is a luxurious life and an exaggerated expression. Is luxury, luxury, luxury, luxury, luxury and so on.
"Tai" is a stable situation in Tai 'an. The first two are easy to understand, but this "going to Thailand" is more confusing. So, is it unsafe?
Actually, it's not. Laozi's "going to Thailand" requires people to be prepared for danger in times of peace.
Because according to the first 1 1 hexagram in Zhouyi, it is true that the three yang's prosperity will not last long, and the first 12 hexagram is a "negative hexagram".
If there is "not Thai", there must be "not Thai". Therefore, we should fully realize this dialectical relationship.
Anyone who has achieved "go to what, go to luxury and go to Thailand" can find the avenue. Those successful people in ancient and modern times, at home and abroad, have followed this cause and effect before they can go down in history. It can be described as too numerous to mention.
It's numb to see too much of this. Only those cases of reverse causality are unforgettable.
To say this "very" first is to do things extremely. In ancient times, there was a saying that "rushing to the crown is a beauty". Nowadays, there are small vendors who hunt down urban management with knives for a booth.
This is a phenomenon of doing things too extreme. And "luxury" is even more. In the Western Jin Dynasty, Shi Chong was as rich as an enemy, competing with Wang Kai for wealth and splendor. In the end, I ended up with a "prosperous thing scattered incense dust, and the running water was ruthless." When the sun sets, the east wind complains about birds, and the fallen flowers are still like fallen flowers. "
"Thai" is another state. People who cook frogs in warm water will die if they don't know. For example, the children of the Eight Banners in the Qing Dynasty were brave and good at fighting, but they lived in peace for too long and became playboys, which finally ruined the Qing Dynasty.
There are many examples in the modern edition. Not long ago, the world-famous Jack Ma made an extreme shot at the Shanghai Financial Forum, and "Ma Yan Ma Yu" shocked four seats, all of which were eclipsed.
What followed was not "Tai", but a rolling "No". I used to be a celebrity on the Internet, and I circulated scriptures everywhere. Now I am completely silent and out of sight.
With the deepening of "no", it is not known whether to pull out the radish and bring out the mud. Alas, even Lao Tzu more than two thousand years ago was heartbroken.
In a word, the reason of these three reverse causality lies in desire. It all boils down to three famous sayings at the beginning of this article. For the sake of the country and the family, we must think carefully and treat it carefully.
We must control it, which is what I demand.
