Being weak and open-minded is the great wisdom in life. What Lao Tzu said about "being weak and not fighting", on many occasions, is not to deliberately promote defeatism and do not want to win, but to use not fighting as the best way to win. The thought of being weak and indomitable has rich connotations and manifests itself in many aspects of character.
Lao Tzu regards weakness as a magic weapon to overcome strength. Based on in-depth observation of nature and society, Laozi realized that weak things tend to have more vitality, while strong and hard things are often easily destroyed.
What Lao Tzu calls weak and non-competitive means that one is not aggressive and eager to win, but is good at using the natural laws of the development of things to overcome hardness with softness and achieve success. "Conquering strength with softness" is a unique way to win and survive. In real life, those who are proud of their talents, show off their sharpness, and show off their strength often encounter failures; while those who dare to show weakness save their lives. Therefore, Lao Tzu said: "Those who are strong will not die." Those who are violent will never die well.
Lao Tzu's thought of "conquering strength with softness" inspires us college students to be gentle with others, not to be arrogant, show off their sharp edges, and fight with fists and kicks at every turn, and to constantly improve their inner cultivation.
Use retreat to advance, use stillness to brake. Many people in later generations did not take it seriously, and even believed that this was the source of national inertia. At first glance, it is indeed a negative thing, and can even be used by mediocre and cowardly people as an excuse to stay behind and not be enterprising. But if you understand it in a positive way, you will find that it is rich in philosophy.
We all understand that haste makes waste, and motion is worse than silence. It can be seen that "don't dare to be the first in the world" is indeed deeply philosophical and has reasonable factors. It inspires us to retreat in order to advance, to stop with stillness, to recharge our batteries, to accumulate strength, and to win by advancing later.
Laozi put forward the concept of non-competition in response to the prevailing trend of fighting for fame and wealth at that time. He did not passively resist the social trend, but attempted to achieve undisputed victory results through non-competitive behavior. Laozi said: "The best thing is like water. Water is good for all things and does not compete." "Because it does not compete, no one in the world can compete with it."
People should imitate Tao in everything. Tao grows and nurtures all things, but Grow all things without appropriating them, nurture all things without boasting about their abilities, nourish all things without dominating them. Some people who have lost their enterprising spirit can indeed find some limited comfort in Lao Tzu's thought of "being content and not striving for contentment". But the "selfless" thought advocated by Laozi refers to the virtues that are in line with Tao and is an expression of a noble personality.
"Since you think that others have more, you can give more to others." Laozi believes that selfless love can fulfill oneself. Because in interpersonal communication, the behavior of one party will inevitably have an impact on the other party. The river of love is a two-way interaction. Love feedback is a common phenomenon in social interaction. The behavior of humility and friendship will inevitably make others moved and moved. Infect and influence, causing positive moral emotions and behaviors.
