A short poem by Martin Niemoller, a German Protestant priest.
In Germany
At first, they came after communists, but I didn't speak because I was not a communist.
Then they came after the Jews, and I didn't speak because I wasn't Jewish.
Later, they came after the union members, but I didn't speak because I was not a union member.
After that, they came after Catholics, but I didn't speak because I was a Protestant.
Finally, they came to me, but no one stood up for me anymore.
