The last bard's song
Song of the Last Bard is Scott's first narrative poem. Based on a border dispute between Scotland and England, the work shows the life of Scottish feudal nobles in the16th century and depicts the customs of ancient servants in the border areas of Scotland. Romeo and Juliet tells the love story of a young man and woman, Margaret and Collins. It is sad and touching, and it is the most touching part of the poem. This poem draws lessons from the form of medieval romantic poetry, and lets a bard tell the story. Its purpose is to "imitate the elegance of modern poetry without losing its own simplicity" (see the preface written by Scott for this poem). The meter of this poem is influenced by Coleridge's Clary Stabel. Sentences vary in length, with 4 accents per line, syllables 7 to 12, and no fixed lines in the section.
Marmion is the poet's second long poem, which is written in eight-syllable double rhyme (with six-syllable verses occasionally inserted). It takes the Battle of Fratton between Scotland and England in 15 13 as the historical background, and describes that Marmion, the British feudal Lord, falsely accused Ralph, a young aristocrat, of treason in order to seize his fiancee kral. Finally, the plot was exposed, Marmion was killed in the Battle of Fratton, and Ralph was reunited with his fiancee. The long poem is regarded as Scott's most outstanding long poem, which successfully depicts Marmion, a heroic and contemptible figure, and at the same time vividly depicts the continuous war scenes with skillful skills. There are several ballads in this poem, the most famous of which is Lochinwa.
Lady on the Lake is the poet's most satisfactory work. In a letter to a friend, he said, "Just as Burns thinks Tom Osante is his best work, I think Lady on the Lake is my best poem." The long poem tells the story that King James of Scotland traveled in disguise and fell in love with Allen, the daughter of Douglas, an aristocrat exiled by him, so he forgave Douglas, let his father and daughter return to the court, and reunited Allen with her old lover and court traitor Malcolm. Scott's talent for romantic poetry is fully demonstrated in this long poem: romantic legends are intertwined with real life; Picturesque natural scenery and charming legends are integrated; Exquisite scenery description and vivid characterization complement each other. Even a few songs interspersed in the poem are very attractive and have always been praised.

The last bard's song (excerpt)
Song of Albert Grimm
There is a beautiful English girl,
The bright sunshine shines on the walls of Cali.
She's going to marry a Scottish knight,
Because love is always supreme.
Facing the morning sun, they are both very happy.
When the sun shines on the walls of Kalis;
When dusk came, they both sighed sadly.
Although love is still supreme.
Her father gave her a jewelry brooch,
Brilliant sunshine shines on the walls of Kalis;
Her brother gave her a bottle of poisoned wine,
He hates his sister for putting love above everything else.
Because she has vast grasslands,
The bright sunshine shines on the walls of Cali,
Her brother vowed not to let Scottish knights
Become the supreme king of that land!
She hasn't really tasted wine yet,
The bright sunshine shines on the walls of Cali.
Has fallen in the arms of his lover,
Because love is always supreme!
The knight's sword pierced her brother's black heart,
Brilliant sunshine shines on the walls of Kalis;
Say goodbye to true love from now on.
Although love is still supreme.
Later, he took part in the Crusades.
Brilliant sunshine shines on the walls of Kalis;
Dedicated to her death in Palestine;
So love is still supreme.
All the faithful lovers in the world,
The bright sunshine shines on the walls of Cali.
Remember these dead people who died for love,
Because love is always supreme!
Horse face (excerpt)
Lochinwa
Ah, young Lochinwa is from the west,
Counting his Ma Zhuang across the border,
He has no weapon except nodding,
Go on the road alone, break into the forbidden area,
He is loyal to love and is not afraid of war.
I have never seen Lochinwa so handsome.
He won't stop for water, nor will he stop for mountains.
He swam without a bridge,
I haven't arrived at Ruibao's door yet,
His girlfriend has promised someone else,
That man despises love and is afraid of war.
But you're going to marry Irene of Loshinwa.
Luoxinwa went straight into Ruibao's hall.
I saw the bride's family and guests gathered together.
The bride's father spoke, holding a sword in one hand,
(And the timid groom doesn't say a word. )
"Lord Lochinwa is here to make peace or to fight,
Or for the dance and the wedding reception? "
"I love your daughter for a long time, and you turned me down.
The climax of love has dried up,
I'm not here to catch up,
Just want to drink and dance,
Scotland is full of fairies,
Who doesn't want to be a housewife in Lochinva? "
The bride kissed and the soldier kissed.
Gulp, put down the glass.
Embarrassed to look at the ground first, she sighed deeply.
With a smile on her lips and tears in her eyes,
The old lady was about to stop him when he took the jade hand.
He said, "Come and dance with Lochinwa!"
Ah, how brave he is! Ah, her beauty!
I have seen such a pair of flowers in any hall!
The old Lord stamped his foot and the old lady nagged.
The frightened groom wore a ribbon and a fedora.
The bridesmaids at the bottom have talked about it.
"Only Lochinwa can match her cousin!"
Sneak out your hand and say a word,
Wait until you jump to the door and see a horse,
He sent the girl up gently,
Then I flew into the saddle,
"see! Since then, I have crossed halfway up the mountain.
Thousands of riders can't catch Lochinwa! "
Ruibao has the voice of a horse,
Relatives and friends are out,
I searched all the mountains and valleys,
The missing girl will never appear again!
So loyal to love, not afraid of war,
Can there be a second person who is more handsome than Lochinwa?
Mrs. Lake (excerpt)
At the end of the jungle
Drifting forward, at the end of the jungle,
A quiet stream swings leisurely,
The source of the stream is deep and narrow.
Only chickens can play and swim.
Lost in vastness, twists and turns,
The stream became a long river,
Water is like a blue mirror.
Reflecting the rugged rocks and rugged hills;
The lonely knight continued to wander,
I feel that the waterways are vertical and horizontal, and the world is long.
The rock is no longer rock solid,
Standing tall in the oasis near the sea,
But seeing clouds and fog around, the smoke waves are vast,
Rocks are like towers surrounded by ditches;
Hongbo is rolling endlessly,
Divide steep hills,
The rock left mother's mountain,
Like an island in the sea, or a boat on the water.
