From the thirty-third chapter of Tao Te Ching, Lao Tzu said: those who know others are wise, and those who know themselves are clear. The winner is strong, and the winner is strong. Those who are satisfied are rich, and those who are forced are ambitious. He who does not lose his position for a long time dies but does not die.
Second, sentence analysis.
1, sentence interpretation
The meaning of this passage is that people who are good at understanding others are smart, and those who are good at understanding themselves are the smartest. People who can defeat others only need strength, and those who can defeat themselves are the most powerful. Only contented people can be rich, and those who make unremitting efforts are the most ambitious. People who don't lose their roots can live long, and those who die and are immortal can live the longest.
2, the enlightenment of the sentence
This passage of Laozi tells us that to pursue a happy life, we must do four things.
(1) Be self-aware.
As the saying goes: people know themselves. Self-knowledge is actually a question of "life orientation". To truly understand yourself, you must look at yourself from another angle.
As the saying goes, "There is a sky outside, but there is someone inside" and "the feet are shorter and the inches are longer". Only by truly understanding your own strengths and weaknesses, can you accurately locate your own life coordinates. When you realize your own shortcomings, it is the beginning of progress.
(2) Perseverance.
True success lies not in defeating others, but in defeating yourself; The real strong man does not dare to challenge others, but challenges himself! Anyone who can convince himself, surpass himself and conquer himself has enough strength to conquer all difficulties, setbacks and misfortunes in study and life.
(3) contentment is always happy.
People's desires are endless and understandable. Only when you are satisfied with yourself can you be rich. People who have a lot of wealth may not feel rich, but only those who are satisfied with their property and indifferent are truly rich. To be content, we must always look at ourselves, always maintain an open-minded and optimistic positive attitude, eliminate all unrealistic material desires, eliminate those unreasonable temptations, and resist those whimsical distractions.
(4) Have a good attitude.
One day, people will come to the end of their lives, money will run out, everything will be like a passing cloud, and only the spirit will last forever. Therefore, life should always pay attention to the growth of the mind, so that the mind and spirit will last forever. We cannot grasp the length of life, but we can grasp its width; But we can't extend the breadth of life, but we can explore the thickness of life.
