1. Born in sorrow and died in happiness is a famous saying from Mencius. The original text is as follows:
"When heaven is about to entrust a great responsibility to a man, he must first strain his mind, strain his muscles and bones, starve his skin, deplete his body, and mess up his actions, so he is tempted to endure it. Nature was once beneficial to what it could not do...and then it was known that one was born in sorrow and died in happiness." ("Mencius Gaozi")
This means that if a person wants to achieve great things, he must go through a lot. The training of hardships and hardships. Only by experiencing hardships, going through wind and rain, and seeing the world can we temper our will, grow our talents, and take on big responsibilities. If you grow up in a greenhouse and live comfortably, you will not be able to develop the ability to overcome difficulties and get rid of adversity. You will be helpless in the face of difficulties. When you encounter setbacks and adversity, you will become depressed and despairing, which often leads to death. So he came to the conclusion: "Be born in sorrow and die in happiness."
2. The famous sentence "Be anxious when the world is worried first, and be happy when the world is happy later" comes from "Yueyang Tower" by Fan Zhongyan, a writer in the Song Dynasty. Sadness can only be enjoyed after everyone in the world enjoys it. In today's terms, suffering comes first and enjoyment comes last.
3. "Form is emptiness, emptiness is form" comes from the Buddhist scripture "Prajna Prajna Heart Sutra" . in short. Color refers to the material world. Empty meaning is illusory and unreal. The original text is: "Relics, color is not different from emptiness, emptiness is not different from color, color is emptiness, emptiness is color." This is the truth that explains the emptiness of the five aggregates.
Shariputra is Shariputra, the most intelligent one. He was present in the audience when Sakyamuni Buddha was teaching the Heart Sutra, so the Buddha called him.
Ordinary people say that all forms are outside the mind, and there is color outside the mind. They divide the mind and form into two things, but they don’t know that form comes from the heart. If you look for the mind, you can’t get it. How can form be obtained? Therefore, form is empty. Therefore, form is empty. Color is not empty.
Ordinary people think that emptiness is outside the heart and do not know that emptiness is a dharma. This dharma has not left the heart. Emptiness arises from the heart. Emptiness exists because of the heart. If you look for the heart, you cannot find it. The heart is empty. The emptiness created is also emptiness, so emptiness does not have different colors.
Emptiness and color are not two, they are one. Color is emptiness. Color arises from emptiness. When the body is emptiness, the so-called "the nature of form comes from emptiness" does not mean that emptiness is only when color disappears. For example, the moon in water, the moon in water, etc. The body of the moon is empty. It is not empty when the moon disappears in the water, so the color is empty. There is no moon in the water, and the moon can appear. This is the name of space, which is the color. The nature of emptiness gives rise to all colors, and all colors eventually end in emptiness. In this way, all dharmas emerge from emptiness. Life ends in emptiness - heaven is empty, hell is empty, rich and poor, pain and joy are empty, so color is emptiness, emptiness is color.
Now let’s explain it in detail:
What is color? Speech, writing, and all objects with appearance that can be seen by the eyes are forms. How can forms be empty? For example, many people can memorize the Great Compassion Mantra. The Great Compassion Mantra is color. After learning it word by word, put it in your heart. Then see if the Great Compassion Mantra exists in your heart? Empty, not a single word can be obtained. The Great Compassion Mantra is empty. The Great Compassion Mantra is form, so form is empty. And because the Great Compassion Mantra is empty, it can accommodate other things. If there are, you cannot learn other things, and you cannot use other sutras and mantras. If you put it into your heart, it will be empty. You can learn the Shurangama Mantra again and put it in word by word. If you look at it again, you will not get a single word. It is also empty. If you read the Great Compassion Mantra well, it will become empty. If you read the Shurangama Mantra well, it will become empty. , returns to emptiness, and after familiarity with the Diamond Sutra, returns to emptiness, proving that form is emptiness.
What does emptiness mean? The Great Compassion Mantra in the heart is emptiness, not a single word can be retrieved, but it can be recited word for word, proving that emptiness is form.
Form is emptiness, emptiness is color, and it is present. Therefore, Buddha Dharma is ready made. Tathagata is the inventor. Therefore, Buddha Dharma is called the invention of the mind, not to mention creation. Whoever invents the truth is a Bodhisattva. Whoever does not invent the truth is a Bodhisattva. They are ordinary people, so Buddhism is equal. If one person invents it, one person will become a Buddha. If two people invent it, two people will become a Buddha. They will be enlightened first, and later they will be enlightened. After learning, they will be enlightened first.
Reciting the Great Compassion Mantra Shurangama Mantra is color. The nature of color is originally empty, and it is not empty until color is destroyed. The nature of color is empty. When you meditate on emptiness, [empty nature has its own color, not emptiness and annihilation of color], it is not the emptiness that causes color. The nature of emptiness naturally gives rise to all colors, so color is not different from emptiness, and emptiness is not different from color. Color is emptiness, and emptiness is color.
