The characteristic metaphor of Wang Xizhi's running script is: floating like floating clouds, as straight as a frightening dragon. Wang Xizhi's "Preface to the Lanting Collection" is admired by calligraphers of all ages and is known as "the best running script in the world". Wang was also good at Li, Cao, Kai, Xing and other styles. He studied the styles carefully, imitated them with his heart and hands, picked up the strengths of others, prepared all kinds of styles, and cultivated them in one furnace. He broke away from the writing style of Han and Wei Dynasties and became his own style with far-reaching influence.

The original works of Wang Xizhi disappeared long ago, and the fine copies from the Tang Dynasty have always been regarded as authentic works. Due to its long history and long-standing reputation, this post, like Wang Xizhi's other ink writings, has different inferences as to when it was copied. Some are called Song imitations, some are suspected to be imitations by Mi Fu, and more are attributed to Tang imitations. There are many records and they have been repeatedly engraved in various series of posts. The public and private seals and circulation after the Yuan Dynasty can be clearly seen. Tested and reliable, its preciousness is self-evident.
