He had a famous saying when he made a scene in the Heavenly Palace, which was used to explain his rebellion. It's called "the strong are the most respected". The name "the Monkey King" is a practice of "the strong are most respected". The Monkey King's rebellious thought was originally based on life practice, and Journey to the West was brilliantly written. Let's see why he is restless and why he wants to rebel. The novel describes Huaguoshan and water curtain cave, where the Monkey King lives, as "the blessed land of fairy mountains", where he is "free from the jurisdiction of Kirin, the control of Phoenix, and the restriction of the human throne" and has "infinite happiness". In other words, he was originally free and lived in a free world, but he still wanted to pursue greater freedom and let his personality get more publicity and liberation. He heard that life and death are under Yan's jurisdiction, so he refused to accept this jurisdiction. He traveled around the world, seeking immortals and visiting Taoism, and learning all kinds of superhuman skills in order to achieve the goal of pursuing greater freedom. In the Dragon Palace, he made a scene and got a "golden hoop". Make a scene in hades, cross off the book of life and death, and get a fairy. Judging from the artistic conception of the whole book, these descriptions paved the way for later writing that he had infinite skill in escorting Tang Priest to learn from the West. But judging from the ideological implication of artistic description, it has another meaning, that is, through these plots, it shows the Monkey King's ideological character of pursuing freedom and personality liberation. After he crossed out all the names of monkeys in the book of life and death, he said brightly, "That's settled! Pay the bill! Don't worry this time! " This short sentence can be regarded as the Monkey King's rebel manifesto, which conveys a voice of pursuing freedom and personality liberation with the characteristics of the times. The author's description of his magical power is also worthy of attention. He learned Tao from Bodhi's ancestor, and learned a somersault cloud of 108,000 Li, with seventy-two changes. Later, I got a golden hoop with a weight of 13500 Jin in the Dragon Palace in the East China Sea. After he was caught by Erlang God (the second and third time), the Jade Emperor ordered him to be sent to the demon chopping platform for execution. The result is "tie him to the demon chopping post, cut his axe with a knife, stab him with a spear, and don't think about hurting him." Fire and thunder can't hurt him a hair. For the seventh time, I burned it in the gossip furnace of Taishang Laojun for 7749 days, but I didn't burn him to ashes. On the contrary, I refined a pair of critical eyes. During the chaos in the Heavenly Palace, 100,000 heavenly soldiers were beaten out of the water by him (the fifth and sixth time) and escaped from the Eight Diagrams Furnace. Then, "the nine Yao stars were closed, and the four heavenly kings disappeared without a trace." In the Heavenly Palace, "attacking the enemy's things is even more unstoppable." (seventh time) I wrote that he was amazing. First, he wrote about his struggle to drive away demons and ghosts in the process of escorting Tang Priest to learn from the West. The second is to write that he has the capital to rebel. Without such magical power, it is impossible to become a strong person, and it is impossible to have the idea that "the strong person is the most respected". Making trouble in Heaven embodies the Monkey King's thought of despising imperial power and opposing feudal hierarchy. Theocratic rule in heaven is the projection of feudal rule on earth. The highest ruler of heaven is the Jade Emperor, but the Monkey King made a scene in heaven and didn't take him seriously at all. He calls himself a "born saint". After disturbing the Dragon Palace in the East China Sea and the Ten Kings of Hades, he was accused of going to the Jade Emperor. In the eyes of ordinary people and God, the Jade Emperor is the supreme ruler with great dignity and authority. Venus on Taibai "worships" at first sight, but the Monkey King "stands by and does not salute." The Jade Emperor asked, "Which is demon fairy?" Wukong replied, "I am!" " After hearing this, the immortals were scared to death and thought it was "damn it!" Damn it! "(The fourth time) Later, the Jade Emperor sent heavenly generals to subdue him. He was defeated and forced to admit that he was" the Monkey King ". The second time I saw the Jade Emperor, I didn't bow down. " He just sang a grateful sigh. "(For the fourth time) in the Heavenly Palace, he refused to recognize the strict hierarchy of the astrological gods, but" no matter how high or low ","treat each other as brothers "and" treat each other as friends ". (The fifth time) In Tiangong, as in the secular world, the hierarchy is very strict. Because my level is not enough, I was not invited to the flat peach party of the Queen Mother of the West, so I was greatly dissatisfied. He ate Xiantao, Xianjiu, Xianpin, and the elixir of the old gentleman, which messed up the pecking order in the Heavenly Palace. The jade emperor could not think about it, so he stepped forward and surrendered. The Tathagata asked him why he rebelled, "To seize the throne of the Jade Emperor?" He replied confidently, "Because the earth is too narrow, I want to live in Tian Yao. ..... The strong should respect me, and the hero dares to fight for the first place. " And said: "As the saying goes,' the emperor takes turns sitting on the ground and comes to my house next year'." Just teach him to move out and give me the heavenly palace. If you don't let me, you must stir up trouble and never make it clear! "(the seventh time) the jade emperor wanted to put him to death on the charge of" only for people with lofty ideals, regardless of rules and regulations. " "(the seventh time) refers to his lack of imperial power, undermining the ceremony of the monarch and his subjects and disturbing the hierarchical order. Even when he was appeased by the Tathagata, converted to Buddhism, and protected Tang Priest from going to the Western Heaven to learn Buddhist scriptures, he was very disrespectful to the rulers of the world, such as the Jade Emperor, Tathagata and Laojun. When I met him, I called myself an "old fairy", "sing a song" and "old grandson". The thirty-third time I wrote that he borrowed the jade emperor's day and said, "If you don't obey, go to the Lingxiao Hall and fight with your sword! "In the struggle, he found that the monster turned out to be a green cow beside the old gentleman, so he went to the Jade Emperor and the old gentleman to apologize and reprimanded them for" not clamping tightly "and" letting the monster go vertically ". In the era of feudal autocracy, the emperor is the representative of the supreme power, sacred and inviolable, determined by God's will and inviolable. But the Monkey King didn't take these seriously at all, showing a strong rebellious and rebellious spirit. From here, we can see the deep internal relationship between the Monkey King's rebellious character and rebellious spirit and the progressive trend of thought in the middle and late Ming Dynasty. The first is the idea that "the strong are the most important". The thought of "the strongest is the most respected" is the opposition to the feudal hierarchy, especially to the feudal autocratic thought based on the theory of destiny and consanguinity, which is obviously the manifestation of civic consciousness with new characteristics of the times. In the process of commercial capital development, in order to get rid of the shackles of feudal order, the emerging citizen class needs its own ability and efforts to develop in an attempt to break the original hierarchical system and order. The Monkey King's ideological character undoubtedly reflects the requirements of this era. Because he is powerful and thinks he is powerful, he will seize the throne of the Jade Emperor and shout the slogan "The Emperor will take turns to sit next year and come to my house". And he later succumbed to the Tathagata because he became a relatively weak person after the contest. However, even after being appeased, the consciousness of "the strongest is the most respected" is still revealed from time to time on the way to learn from the scriptures. Secondly, it is related to the idea of "respecting the sages". He can't stand humiliation and demands respect for people and talents. He thought his ability was very high, so he asked the Jade Emperor to give him a position corresponding to his ability. He rebelled twice, the first time because the Jade Emperor only asked him to make a "Bi Marvin", and he was very happy at first. When he realized that this was just a small official who fed horses, he was very dissatisfied and thought that the emperor was fatuous, "belittling morality" and "unable to employ people." He said to the giant spirit god who went to appease him, "He is useless! I have endless skills. Why should I keep a horse for him? Look at my standard font size. If I am promoted by this name, the natural world will be clean and peaceful without moving the sword; If you are not punctual, call Lingxiao Hall and tell him that the dragon bed will never sit! "The Jade Emperor named him the Monkey King, and he was" satisfied, happy in heaven and happy in heaven ". "The Queen Mother of the West, the Flat Peach Club, was not invited, and she felt humiliated and rebelled again. Although this idea of respecting the sages is related to the thoughts of the lower intellectuals in China's feudal era, it is also related to the self-consciousness of affirming people's individual value and personality. Citing Li Zhi's thoughts and statements, the Monkey King is a son of nature with pure nature who keeps the original state of life, and a real person who has not been polluted by the ruling class's thoughts, especially pseudo-ism. Of course, such a true image is not bound by the rules and regulations of traditional thinking, nor by the autocratic system, nor will it tell lies or do false things. This passage about sanctification can be regarded as an annotation of the Monkey King's thoughts and actions.
