Writer Xing Linzi (Ms. Liu Xia) passed away in Taiwan in the early morning of February 8, 2003. The news shocked everyone from all walks of life. When I saw this news on the Internet, I felt infinitely sad. In the past, I often shared Sister Xinglinzi’s life testimony with them during my sermons and when I was counseling those who were struggling in suffering, feeling that life was meaningless and falling into despair. The listeners were all moved and inspired to learn from her spirit of courageously facing suffering and her spiritual lesson of using suffering as a blessing. Now my beloved Xing Linzi is resting in peace. Although she is gone, she still speaks to us through her writings and the testimony of her life.
Xing Linzi has suffered from rheumatoid arthritis since she was 12 years old. She has suffered from pain for decades, severe pain in her heart, paralysis and inability to move, but she was able to create "Ei" with faith and simple love. "Dian Disability Welfare Fund". With her astonishing vitality, she brought hope to millions of people who were hopeless, and brought a turning point in the lives of countless people with disabilities.
Her first creation in 1977 was "Song of Life", and her last posthumous work was "Twenty-Two Treasures of a Beautiful Life". She wrote more than 30 books in her life. She has gone through various painful trials and exhorts readers with her life experiences and experiences gained with blood and tears. The scenery and charm of the mountains, the sound of the flowing water, every flower, every grass, every tree and every bird can all arouse her response to the nature created by God. She writes about people, emotions, and struggles. She loves life and all of them. Her articles are full of inspiration and comfort that can be read between the lines.
Xing Linzi has a very precious feeling about suffering in the book "Ode to Life":
Skin that has not been burned by the scorching sun will last forever.
I don’t know the coolness of the shade of the trees,
I have no eyes that have shed tears,
I will never understand the suffering of the world.
She once mentioned that more than 30 years ago, her father allowed doctors to use her case as an academic demonstration because he loved his daughter and hoped that the medical community would discover new treatments as soon as possible. The attending doctors often carried her to the auditorium and podium, and asked the doctors to explain the causes and conditions of rheumatoid disease. The speakers spoke lucidly, and the listeners listened with great interest, but she was extremely humiliated. She felt like a monkey in a zoo; she wished she could bury her head in a hole. But since she believed in Jesus, her life has changed tremendously. She has changed from sadness, crying, and despair to joy, positivity, and optimism.
She was often carried to the stage to share her testimony during meetings in various places. She was in a very happy mood. Not only was she not ashamed of the gospel, she was no longer ashamed of her inability to move and her illness. Instead, she took reporting the good news and preaching the message as a good step, and she boasted that the Lord's grace was shown in her weakness. Ability is joy. She no longer uses her case as an academic demonstration in the hope that medicine will discover new treatments; now she is giving her life testimony on the podium, allowing countless people who have been traumatized both physically and mentally to be healed, comforted, and face life.
When she was 16 years old, one night, when the night fell and she was crying in pain, she felt the presence of the Lord in the darkness. Although she could not see the Lord with her eyes and could not hear his voice, she still felt the presence of the Lord. She clearly felt the Lord’s gentle hand comforting her. At that moment, the heavy burden on my shoulders was lifted, and the sadness disappeared. Before this, she had cried, grieved, struggled, and asked herself from time to time, why did the suffering happen to her? Suddenly a faint voice told her: Because God’s deeds will be revealed in you. Because of her own experience, she began to help people who were in the same pain as her. She shed tears of disappointment and sadness in her hospital bed, but now the "Valley of Tears" has become the "Blessing of Autumn Rain."
The power of disease that would have destroyed her body, mind, and soul disappeared because she knew the Lord of life. In other words, her fear of human suffering completely disappeared, and she accepted what the Lord gave her in love. mission.
She once said that many people tend to stereotype the disabled, thinking that the blind can only massage and tell fortunes, while the physically handicapped can only engrave and repair clocks. In fact, except for the dysfunction of a certain part of their bodies, their intelligence and abilities are not inferior to those of ordinary people. As long as they are given appropriate opportunities, they can use their talents and contribute to society.
Under her encouragement and the cultivation of famous teachers, the "Eden Joy Quartet" became an internationally famous band. Through the graceful movement and profound lyrics, they understood that "life" is God's plan and "shortcomings" "It is a blessing in disguise; and the brilliance of life often has to go through painful tempering. Their testimonies and songs bring hope of rebirth to those who feel desperate in the darkness.
Xing Linzi often said during her lifetime: "I have nothing but love." Yes, Xing Linzi's life is a life of love, and she is the transmitter of love. With the Lord, there is love. The Lord shaped her life through suffering and asked her to live like the Lord Himself and spread true love to the world. Xing Linzi’s mother often said to people: “If it weren’t for a miracle, how could she, who only graduated from elementary school, have made such a great contribution to literature, society and faith!” She was disabled and sick and had to pay so much, how could she? Without moving healthy and talented people to share her "double blessing mission" (gospel and welfare), there are many writers and musicians serving the disabled in "Eden" regardless of remuneration, teaching writing and music. God is love. She had love, turned small love into big love, and founded the Eden Disability Foundation. She has worked in the association for many years without ever receiving a salary, and she only relies on royalties to survive.
She regained her life because of her trust in the Lord. She said: "God allows the world to see that a person can still live the essence of life even in the midst of all kinds of hardships and illness. No more struggling, no more No matter how much we shed tears, we are just as stable and majestic as the Yangtze River, which can tolerate even strong winds and waves. Painful blows will often come, but all of them will help us understand ourselves better; at the same time, we will grow through continuous attempts and affirm the value of our lives. The paths are different, what matters is the mentality with which you walk. It doesn’t matter what kind of lifestyle you live in, what matters is the connotation and meaning you give to your life.” People who are sick say: "It is not a misfortune for a person to lose his health. The most important thing is to have pure faith, a sound psychology, a correct direction in life and a vigorous vitality."
In fact, Many people suffer from disability trauma in their souls, which is even more painful than physical disabilities. However, after reading her works and her touching life testimony, their lives can be reorganized, their souls can be enlightened, and their psychology can become sound. .
The books she writes are concise and sentimental. They are often filled with a spirit of perseverance and never give in to suffering. The lines are full of positivity and optimism, and she uses humor to describe the various aspects of life and life. Various challenges will make readers feel inspired and amazed after reading it. When people read her writings, they not only share her life, but also enjoy the blessings of Christ’s life and love through her.
In 1992, she suffered a serious illness. She was in and out of the hospital to repair her chin and underwent several major surgeries. Suffering from heartbreaking pain, she told God that she wanted to give up and no longer wanted to live, and begged God to take her back to heaven. At that time, she suddenly heard the poem "Amazing Grace" coming from outside the hospital bed, which convinced her that God was comforting her and giving her strength to live strong again.
Liu Xia continued to write during his lifetime. He published his first work "Song of Life" in 1977. Since then, he has continued to publish new works every year, writing up to one million words, and has published many anthologies, including "A Note on the Apricot Grove", "Another Kind of Love", "Reentering the Mortal World", "Walking to Water's Poverty", "Thank You Roses for Their Thorns", "Is Lovesickness Deep", "Modern Fables", "Song of Life" ", "Ode to Life", "Soul Quality", "Blank Youth, Years of Rebellion", "Song of Life", "Love Stories Around You", "Adan's Dad" and other prose, reportage and She also published audio books and her first picture book "Good Boy, Joby" in July last year, which tells the story of a cat named Joby who ran away from home.
The inspirational sketches she wrote are very popular and are selected as holiday reading materials by middle schools in Taiwan every winter and summer vacation. Her growth story was selected by the Hong Kong Education Press as an anthology edited by middle school students, and she became one of the top three best-selling authors in Malaysia. She has more than 60 works, including more than 40 plays, 16 essays, two novels, as well as albums and edited works. Xing Linzi's life was a life of contribution to society. Her literary works and life testimony have won countless awards and high honors.
Recently, Xing Linzi wrote an article "Add some heat to our hearts" in response to the "anti-indifference movement" promoted by Taiwanese society. We can see from this article her sincerity and positive encouragement, and her confident tone permeates the text:
I am reminded of a long-ago event. It has been at least more than thirty years, and I have just undergone two surgeries on my legs to regain my freedom of walking. One day I went out for something, and when I came back at night, it suddenly started to drizzle. The entrance to the alley was about two hundred meters away from my house. I didn't bring rain gear, and it was inconvenient to move around. Although I was a little anxious, I had to brave the rain. Walking in a hurry.
After walking for a short time, suddenly an umbrella was stretched out from behind me. When I looked back, I saw a good-looking girl smiling at me. I told her that my home was not far ahead. , she nodded. We hardly talked along the way and walked side by side in silence. When we arrived at the door of the house, I thanked her again and she smiled and turned to leave.
From beginning to end, I didn’t know who she was, where she lived, and I had never seen her again, but the umbrella stretched out in the rain and her beautiful smiling face were like a lamp in the cold night. , always shines with warm light in my memory.
Compared with the chaos in today's society, the alienation between people seems to have been a long time since the era when chickens and dogs could hear each other, and their voices were connected. Remembering the warm years of the past, the rich feeling Despite the human touch, I still can’t help but sigh and sigh. Is it true that people’s hearts have changed and our society is sinking more and more? In fact, there are still many caring people, but they are used to keeping their feelings in their hearts and are not good at expressing them. Over time, they seem to be indifferent to others.
If we start with ourselves and pay more attention to our relatives and friends around us, a word of encouragement, a kind smile, a warm hug, and compassion that puts us in their shoes may not be obvious at the moment. The changes are ongoing, but if everyone can pay his share and persevere, the impact will be immeasurable.
——Excerpted from "Liu Xia's Leaving Love in the World" of United News Network on February 9th
In her last collection of essays "Breaking Antiques", she reserved will. It said that intangible legacies such as blessings and love should be left to the family and the world. As for the tangible corneas, they were donated to those in need, and the body was left to the hospital for pathological anatomy. The will was written without any loss of humor, saying that it would be beneficial to medicine and save funeral expenses.
Now that she has passed away, her family is carrying out her will. She will always keep her love in everyone's heart, and her life and her works will be an inspiration to millions of people. Liu Xia said in the article "Good Life, Good Death", "One day, when I pass away, please do not surround me with elegiac couplets, do not pile me with flowers, do not commemorate me with words of praise, do not use tears. Bury me with cries, I have gone on a mysterious date! How I hope you will be as happy as I am -"
Liu Xia loved his parents, brothers and sisters all his life. Friends, love nature, love all things in the world, and even more love for children with disabilities——. In order to respect Liu Xia's wishes, the Liu Xia Funeral Committee held two "Happy Appointments" in the green Da'an Forest Park from 10 am to 4 pm on February 22, with music, greenery and the fragrance of flowers. Liu Xia Jiamei Footsteps Nostalgia Concert". The "Path of Liu Xia's Beautiful Footsteps" was arranged at the scene to share with the audience Liu Xia's process of faith, literature, promoting social welfare and fighting against illness. Liu Xia has struggled with rheumatoid arthritis for nearly 50 years. Even though she suffers from severe physical pain every day, she always loves life and actively strives for the welfare of people with disabilities. She also encourages those with weak bodies, words, and love. People who are in trouble.
In addition to the memory concert held for Xing Linzi in Taiwan, many readers who loved her held memorial services simultaneously in Hong Kong, Penang, Kuala Lumpur and other cities.
At the Xinglinzi memorial service held in Taiwan, veteran Christian artist Sun Yue said:
“Liu Xia was a person who did everything for others and didn’t care about himself. , I was moved when I read her articles, and when I listened to her broadcasts, I was even more moved when I saw her character and personality. When I said goodbye to my old friend today, I knew where she was going, and that was a good thing. An incomparable place where there is no disease or pain, but there is peace.
I believe that I will be able to meet her there in the near future——"
