An only child is a child who has no brothers or sisters. The physical and mental development laws of only children and non-only children are the same. But sibling relationship will play a role in the socialization of children. Only children have no sibling relationship except parent-child relationship with their parents, so their socialization has its own characteristics. The only child is a policy to respond to the call of the state and control the excessive population growth.
Determine the standard:
The only child in items (1) and (10) of Article 20 of the Regulations of China on Population and Family Planning (revised in 2004) shall be determined according to the following criteria:
(1) Both husband and wife have only one child or only one child is alive;
(2) childless couples adopt only one child according to law;
(three) raised by social welfare institutions, no brothers and sisters;
(four) after the divorce of a couple who have only one child, one of them lives with the children according to law and has not remarried or remarried with a childless person but has no children.

Application conditions
Children who meet one of the following conditions and are under the age of eighteen may apply for a Certificate of Honor.

3. After the death of the first child born by the husband and wife, another child is born and no longer gives birth;

Provisions for special circumstances
