Li Bai is just a small official. Why did Gao Shen Li take off his shoes?
Li Bai, the pinnacle of China's poetry, as a symbol of the prosperous Tang Dynasty, is not only because of his bold and elegant poetry, but also because of his romantic and proud personality and his gesture of "all princes are equal friends under the monarch's door". Since ancient times, people have been talking about the situation that Gao Lishi took off his boots, Yang Guifei grinded people and Li Bai retreated from foreign countries. Only this kind of bearing can be worthy of the title of "Poet Fairy".

However, such a story is obviously too legendary to be true. Looking through the Biography of Gao Lishi in the New Tang Dynasty, it is recorded that Gao Lishi is "Su Zong is in the East Palace, his brother is an expert, and the princess is called Weng", while Tang Xuanzong himself is "or unknown and called a general". Bai, a great man who first arrived in Chang 'an, was called brothers by the prince and the princess, but the emperor didn't call him by his first name. How did he humiliate him in public? This will only show that Li Bai's EQ is too low, and he won't even associate with people at all.

Li Longji (September 8, 685-May 3, 762) is the map of Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty.

Looking back at Yang Guifei's deeds, the problem is even more obvious. Yang Yuhuan was originally the concubine of Li Mao, the longevity king. Later, Tang Xuanzong took a fancy to her and made her a monk. Then, in the fourth year of Tianbao (AD 745), he was secularized by the Taoist priest and canonized as a imperial concubine. And Li Bai, who was in Tianbao for three years, was "given gold and returned" by Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty and left Chang 'an! So we can't talk about Yang Guifei's grinding, which shows how incredible such a story is.

However, there are similar records in the official authoritative history. Li Bai Chuan, a Book of the New Tang Dynasty, said:

"(Li) Bai Jude and drinkers were drunk in the city. The emperor sat in the agarwood pavilion, feeling deeply, wanting to get white as a movement, calling in, white was drunk, and the left and right sides were full of water, which was a little slow, and the pen was graceful and meticulous, leaving no thoughts. The emperor liked his talent very much and saw him at several banquets. Taste the emperor for nothing, get drunk before you rest, and make Gao Lishi take off his boots. Luxe is expensive, and it is shameful to use her poems to stimulate Yang Guifei. The emperor wants to be an official, but the princess stops. "

In this record, it is vaguely mentioned that Gao Lishi took off his boots and picked up a poem to wake up Yang Guifei, which seems to be much more credible than the folklore story. In addition, such a record, the Book of the New Tang Dynasty compiled by the Northern Song Dynasty, is very authoritative, because scholars of all previous dynasties have preconceived it as real history. However, as mentioned above, the "imperial concubine" was sealed only after Li Bai left Chang 'an, so this record is obviously problematic.

Yang Yuhuan (765438+June 22-July 200915,756), No.

So, how did such a legendary story come about?

Looking through all kinds of notes in the Tang Dynasty, the story of "Gao Lishi took off his boots" was first recorded by Duan in the middle Tang Dynasty. As a collection of note novels, its authenticity is questionable. However, later scholars, even those who edited history books, quoted and narrated the story of "Gao Lishi took off his boots" in Youyang Miscellanies, and only excerpted part of it, which really made people laugh and cry.

The original text of Youyang Za says:

"Li Bai's name was broadcast in the sea, and Xuanzong summoned him in the temple and looked up. If Xuanxuan was a Xia Ju, he didn't feel the honor of death. He accepted the shoes because of his life. Bai Sui spread his feet to Gao Lishi and said,' Take off your boots.' Lux lost power, so he jumped out. "

This passage described Li Bai's gorgeous appearance so vividly that even Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty fell for it. It is this passage that has made scholars of all ages admire and quote repeatedly, saying that Li Bai is charming and equal to the princes. But Duan, like many novels and articles now, added a sentence of "mending the knife" at the end, which gave the story a dramatic ending at once: "When I came out, I called Bai Lux and said,' This man is poor.'" "Busy for half a day, this feat of taking off boots was poured a pot of cold water by Tang Xuanzong's' mending knife'. Anyone who reads this last sentence will no longer strive to praise Li Bai's romantic pride.

Gao Lishi (684-762), whose real name was Feng Tu.

Looking back at Li Zhuo's "Song Chuang Zaji" in the late Tang Dynasty, "Cloud:' Why do famous flower concubines use old music words?" So he ordered the Year of the Tortoise to announce Li Bai, a bachelor of Hanlin, with golden flowers, and entered the three chapters of Qingpingdiao ... Gao Lishi finally took off his black skin with six seams in shame. In the future, Princess Taizhen recited the previous words again. Lux said,' Why did the concubine complain that Li Bai had penetrated into the bone marrow?' Princess Taizhen was surprised and asked,' Can Bachelor He Hanlin insult people like this?' Lux said:' I call it a swallow, which is very cheap. So real. It's quite profound. I tried to kill Li, but my death was guarded by the palace. "

In contrast, the records in Song Chuang Zalu and Li Bai Zhuan are almost identical in plot, which is really surprising. In the earliest Miscellanies of Youyang, Yang Guifei was not mentioned, but a simple contradiction between Li Bai and Gao Lishi.

In the Qing Dynasty, Dai Lianzeng, a painting shop in Yangliuqing, Tianjin, edited "Drunken Writing Against the Table" _ Figure

So, obviously. At first, it may be that Duan, the author of Youyang Za, heard rumors from the people or some literati and recorded the story of Gao Lishi taking off his boots for Li Bai. In the narration of Youyang's miscellaneous words, it can be clearly seen that Li Bai is not a perfect man, but a somewhat cynical scholar.

But the story spread wider and wider, and gradually added more things. In Song Chuang Za Lu, Yang Guifei became one of the protagonists of the story. This narrative was accepted by the official history such as the Book of the New Tang Dynasty and copied almost intact. Later, in modern folklore, the story of Li Bai's drunken retreat was added. This course is really staggering.

Mr. Gu Jiegang once said that "the ancient history of China is caused by accumulation". For those legends and stories, the later the times, the richer the stories and the fuller the characters. The story of Gao Lishi taking off his boots for Li Bai is in line with such a process, which can be said to be a story accumulated layer by layer with the delay of time. The truth of history may never have happened.

However, as a great poet who is loved by people, it is understandable that people associate some stories with "Poet Fairy" because of his charming personality and unrestrained manner. After all, in people's minds, history is history, but their "poetic immortal" should be another kind of legend.
