1. What is a passport?
Passport is a legal document issued by a country to prove the nationality and identity of its citizens when they enter and leave the country and travel or stay abroad. The word Passport means port pass in English. In other words, a passport is a passport for citizens to pass through international ports in various countries. Therefore, some countries in the world usually issue passes instead of passports.
Second, how to sign the passport?
Passport holders must sign their own names, and China people can sign their own Chinese names.
Note: the applicant's signature at the back of the visa form of each country must be consistent with the holder's signature, otherwise it may be refused by the embassy or even blacklisted.
Signature on passport:
When the border inspection authorities or immigration agencies can't determine whether your identity is consistent with your passport, they will determine it by comparing your signature, so as long as it is my signature, there is no problem. It is also useful when filling out entry and exit cards of other countries, such as entering Hong Kong.
In addition, in foreign countries, especially in European countries, signatures are basically recognized. If you have trouble spending money by credit card abroad, you can have vouchers.
3. What should I do if my passport is not signed?
If there is no signature on the passport, you must sign it yourself or go back to the registration hall to correct it.
Since 20 12, China has added embedded electronic chips to ordinary passports to store more personal information of the holders, including basic personal information, facial portraits, fingerprint information and so on. Recorded on the chip with the fingerprint is the signature of the holder.
According to the regulations of the Ministry of Public Security, when applying for an electronic ordinary passport, the applicant should accept the fingerprint and signature information collected on the spot by the exit-entry administration department of the public security organ. Applicants should go to the registration hall in person, and citizens under the age of 16 should be accompanied by their guardians, and submit the opinions issued by their guardians on agreeing to leave the country, as well as relevant identity documents. One of the main reasons why the applicant must be present in person is to collect the fingerprint and signature information of the applicant added in this passport, and it is stipulated that only applicants who do not have the signature ability such as preschool children can sign.
Signature is an important part of passport and indispensable. When the holder goes abroad, this passport is his/her only identification, which is needed everywhere from staying in a hotel to changing foreign currency. Many institutions don't have machines to read chips, but they still have to check their signatures. So even if you already have the electronic records in the chip, you still need to have a paper signature, which should be arranged properly when you apply for the certificate.
Therefore, when you get a new passport, you should check the correctness of each item at the first time, including the signature. If the signature column of the passport is blank, you should sign it immediately; If it is found that the signature column has written other information different from the signature of the holder, it must be corrected immediately. Otherwise, it will be very troublesome to be refused entry when you use it in the future, especially abroad.
