According to reports, this mural still focuses on the Confucian values of "filial piety, loyalty, faithfulness, propriety, righteousness, honesty and shame" and vividly interprets the Confucian humanistic spirit with historical allusions. Its large area and exquisite description are rare in China, and it has important research reference value in the history of architecture, art painting and folk culture.
According to the inscription, this mural was painted in the 9th year of Qianlong (1744), with a history of 273 years. The mural covers an area of 230 square meters and is located in the left and right side corridors of the ancestral hall, the left and right side walls of the pleasure hall, the left and right side walls of the bedroom hall and the back wall. After preliminary cleaning, there are 15 well-preserved murals with high overall recognition, covering an area of 100 square meters.
The mural remains of the whole ancestral temple, which best embodies the theme of "family etiquette and family instruction", are located on the left and right walls of the main hall. On the left wall, four stories are depicted: Min Ziqian and his mother live together; Great cause of defending the country; Yue Fei defeated Jin Wushu; and Liang Hao borrowed books. Four stories are depicted on the wall on the right, namely "Pear in Cheng Menxue", "Riding a Thousand Miles Alone", "Seeking the Lord with Tibetan Silver" and "Not Eating Zhou Su". In addition to murals, there are also corresponding text themes. There are "filial piety and faithfulness" on the left side of the hall, and "courtesy, righteousness and shame" on the right side, all of which are imitation of Zhu's calligraphy and signature. Words and pictures echo each other and complement each other.
The murals of Fu's Ancestral Temple in Jinhu have a long history, a huge area and exquisite shapes, which have reached a high level in composition, line drawing quality, color contrast and coordination, and have high artistic value, said China Village Culture Research Center of Central South University.
I hope that more ancient things will be completely preserved and discovered.
