How many football fans are there in China?

A market research company has conducted research on football fans in several cities in China. A random sampling survey showed that among 17,221 citizens over the age of 14 who were interviewed, 3,456 admitted that they were football fans, accounting for 20.8% of the total number of respondents. Some people estimate from this that football fans in Chinese cities account for about 20% of the population.

There are scholars who specialize in the study of fan behavior. According to the degree of participation of fans in the football market, they are divided into four levels: marginal fans, whose number is 7%; junior fans, whose number is 64%; intermediate fans 19%; advanced fans 8%.

Marginal fans mean that football is their favorite sport, but they don’t know much about football; junior fans know a little about football techniques and tactics and know the names of some stars; intermediate fans attend fan meetings and often Go to the stadium to watch team training and games. They can analyze the events and comment on the players' performance. They also collect autographs, posters and photos of the stars, and have many anecdotes about them. Senior fans are usually the planners of the stadium cheerleading team, and they are also the organizers of the stadium cheerleading team. Leaders who go to other places to watch games can tell the difference by watching the ball and commenting on the ball with three points. Currently, more and more Chinese women are joining the ranks of fans. According to surveys in Beijing and Guangzhou, the proportion of female fans accounts for 17%, that is, on average, there is one female fan for every 6 fans. Among female fans, there are many well-known people.
