What is wapi?
Wapi is the authentication and security infrastructure of WLAN.

Wapi is a security protocol and a mandatory standard for WLAN security in China, which was proposed by the State Key Laboratory of Integrated Services Network Theory and Key Technologies in xidian university. WAPI, like infrared, Bluetooth, GPRS, CDMA 1X, is a wireless transmission protocol.

There are only two standards in the global WLAN field, namely IEEE 802. 1 1 series standards proposed by American industrial standards organization (including 802. 1 1a/b/g/n/ac, etc. ) and WAPI standard proposed by China. WAPI is the first secure access technology standard in China with independent innovation and intellectual property rights in the field of computer broadband wireless network communication.

WAPI access control includes the following four entities:

(1) Authentication Service Unit (ASU) is an important part of WAI authentication infrastructure based on public key cryptography, and its basic function is to manage user certificates and authenticate user identities.

The certificate managed by ASU contains the public key and signature of the certificate issuer (ASU) and the public key and signature of the certificate holders STA and AP, and uses the unique elliptic curve of WAPI as the digital signature algorithm.

(2) Authenticator Entity AE(Authenticator Entity) is an entity that authenticates the requester entity and provides authentication operation before accessing the service. The entity resides in an AP device or an AC device.

(3) Authentication Requester Entity (ASUE), an entity that requests authentication before accessing the service. The entity resides in the STA.

(4) Authentication Service Entity (ASE), which provides mutual authentication services for the authenticator and the authenticated entity. The entity is located at Arizona State University.
