His father, Guo Tinglong, is a famous Chinese painter. He served as chairman of the Bengbu Municipal Federation of Literary and Art Circles, dean of the Municipal Calligraphy and Painting Academy, member of the Anhui Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and vice president of Bengbu Education College. The eyes and ears are stained. Guo Yan has been deeply influenced by the cultural atmosphere of his family since he was a child, and he is particularly fond of cultural learning and painting art. From the day he picked up a paintbrush, he was carefully taught by his father. When he was 8 years old, his "Written Manuscript" was selected into the "National New Year Painting Children's Art Exhibition" and was collected by the National Art Museum of China. As he grew older and improved his painting skills, he focused on traditional Chinese painting figures, and later studied under Mr. Xu Hengyu, a famous painter and chairman of the Sichuan Artists Association. The famous painter Guo Yan used his profound painting skills to create forty "The Soul of the Country" comic strips that lasted a year and vividly depicted the short and all-powerful life of General Zhang Huitao. On December 2, 1911, the Huaishang Army led by Zhang Huitao intercepted the Qing Jiangnan Admiral Zhang Xun who was rushing northward in Xiaonan Mountain. This is known in history as the "Battle of Xiaonan Mountain in Bengbu". In this battle, 88 Huaishang Army soldiers died. To commemorate the sacrificed Huaishang Army soldiers, Sun Yat-sen issued an order to build a monument in Xiaonan Mountain, but it was soon destroyed. Later, the Huaishang Army Monument was rebuilt after suggestions from the Bengbu Municipal People's Political Consultative Conference. On January 29, 1920, Zhang Huitao was assassinated by an assassin in Shanghai. It was known in history as one of the "three major murders in Shanghai". Mr. Sun Yat-sen personally wrote the inscription "The soul of the country will never die" for Zhang Huitao. Due to historical factors, Zhang Huitao's historical remains were buried for nearly a century. Researchers went through untold hardships, traveled all over the country, and collected piles of historical materials to finally bring his hero's soul to light. Zhang Huitao is a patriotic general loved by the Chinese people and respected by the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. To commemorate General Zhang Huitao, forty comic strips of "The Soul of the Country Will Not Die" have been included in the book "Huitao's Footprints" on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Tongmenghui.
