The prototype of this piano is Red Special, which was handmade by May and his father. This piano sound is found in many records of Queen. In the heyday of the band, Mei's timbre was absolutely unique. The unique performance feeling seems to be the sound of the combination of Start and les paul.
This unique handmade guitar later became the prototype of many guitars, and Burns' is the latest one. The company that makes this piano is famous for being good at breaking the old and creating the new in guitar manufacturing. The original version was designed by Burns USA to restore people's impression of the classic Burns guitars in the 1960s.
Wood and craft
Burns' guitar and Mei's guitar are the same in a big way: the mahogany neck and the ebony fingerboard with a grade of .24 are bonded together. The hollow fuselage can increase the sound and reduce the weight.
Medium-sized words are smoothly installed on the neck, ensuring the feel. The neck is round-some close to Gibson, but the taper is not as obvious as Gibson's. This neck is the coolest when pushing strings. The difference is that Mei's piano is Grade 0. This design will be a bit buzzy (I don't know whether it is noise or intonation), and Burns' guitar eliminates this problem.
The neck and the body are connected at 19, and the concave shoulders on both sides are at 2 1. This design is very special. The concave shoulder on the bass string is more obvious, so it is very convenient to play and push the string in a high position. The chord length of 24 inches is shorter than that of ordinary rock guitars, and the pitch between the high positions is correspondingly smaller. However, this does not affect the use.
Hardware part
Burns Bryan May's signature model uses a pontoon (similar to a fender) and Grover's reel. The bridge has good maneuverability, and the winder can automatically lock the wire when winding. This design is very interesting. Of course, there will be no problem of running around.
All the metal parts are chrome-plated, including the cover of the pickup truck, which stands out against the black guard and pink paint. Simple dot mosaic, simple and natural. It looks like an old sports car, but its appearance is simple but very modern. It can fully express your thoughts.
Circuit part
Brian May's unique timbre comes from unconventional circuit design. This brand model uses three single-group pickups made by Burns, which are controlled by the main volume and the main tone. The designer captured Mei's timbre perfectly.
Each pickup has a three-speed switch that can be turned on, off or reversed. There are about 65,438+04 different combinations (there are more combinations, but some phase changes sound similar). These three pickups are connected in series, not in parallel like this combined guitar. When two or three pickups are combined, the timbre will become coarse. It is very fashionable to use the neck and middle pickup at the beginning.
Pickups are very sensitive to touching strings, even two or three pickups are used at the same time, and even the distortion is very serious. If an overloaded electron tube speaker is connected, this piano can give a May lead, which is very suitable for beautiful melody. With clean speakers, this guitar is also suitable for playing blues in the country. Reversing the pickup will make the sound a bit weird. Another good thing is that this guitar can also be made.
