Maintaining pens for daily use does not require too much attention. The most important thing is to keep them clean.
1) Try to use pigment-based ink. It is not recommended to use blue and black ink, especially pens with rubber ink bags. Blue-black ink is also called iron tannate ink. Its main ingredients are chemical components such as tannic acid and ferrous sulfate. It is relatively acidic and can easily corrode the ink bag. The pen tip of a steel-tipped pen will also be corroded. And although the blue-black ink itself is water-resistant and long-lasting, it will corrode the paper, so it is not suitable for writing on documents that need to be stored for a long time. Nowadays, many documents from the Republic of China are facing a preservation crisis. This is because a large amount of blue and black ink was used at that time, and now the paper is almost corroded. And because blue-black ink is volatile, there shouldn’t be too long a pause when writing. If you don’t write for about 20 to 30 seconds, the ink will be affected.
2) Clean the pen frequently with warm water.
Use warm water to clean the pen thoroughly. If it is removable, it is best to disassemble the pen into its most scattered parts for cleaning. This frequency is about once every two months. If using carbon ink, the interval should be reduced to one month. 3) Do not mix ink from multiple brands, as it may cause precipitation and clog the pen.
4) If it is a gold bright-point pen, do not use ordinary napkins to wipe it after applying the ink. It is easy to leave scratches on the pen tip. You can go to an optical shop to ask for a lens cleaning cloth to wipe it.
5) Based on @xiaowang’s answer, I would like to add that as long as it does not affect writing, it is best to buckle the pen cap on the end of the pen when writing. In this way, if the pen falls, the tail of the pen is heavier and the tip of the pen will not hit the ground first. (It is best not to buckle pens with metal cases like this, as it can easily wear the outer shell coating). This is important, as too many pens have died spectacularly after performing a set of free-fall movements.
ps: The pure blue color of the hero is not recommended. Although the color is very beautiful when it is first written, it will fade within a week and become very light. After a while, the writing will be difficult to read clearly. .
